Had a pretty good stay for 5 nights at this cozy hotel a few blocks away from the madness of Shinsaibashi and about a 15 minute walk to Dotonbori (20 mins to Namba, 25 minus to Nipponbashi DenDen town). Although you are close to these major tourist areas + tons of restaurants and Shinsaibashi subway station, the hotel itself is quiet and you don't get noise from the street.
The room are Japanese standard size (aka, tiny), but there's not much else you'll get at this price point. We were two people staying in the double-bed room. It was difficult for us both to open our luggage at the same time given the limited space. That said, we had friends who had chosen the two-twin-beds room, which was a little bit larger, so if you have two people and don't mind (or would rather) sleep in separate beds you will probably have a better time in there.
The hotel itself is modern, with nice wood panelling on the doors and in the bathroom. Ameneties such as razors, toothbrushes, showercaps, nightgowns and slippers (+ more) are provided or can be taken at no charge from the front desk. The staff is courteous and multilingual as the hotel caters primarily to International tourists (from what I saw, largely Chinese and Koreans) given it is close to Osaka's main tourist district. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer on the 2nd floor (300 JPY for washer, minimum 100 JPY for dryer) but you could probably also hang your clothes up in your bathroom to air dry. Just make sure to take your clothes out in a timely manner or other guests will take them out for you.
The first floor has a seating area with free soups, coffee, and tea. It seems that breakfast used to be provided but was discontinued at some point (probably since corona).
There is also a self service luggage storage room where you can lock your bags up if you'd like to wander around after checking out/before your flight. The lock is a little finnicky and it took me some time to figure out how it works.
Overall I found this hotel to be clean, safe, and conveniently located. I would recommend it if you would like to stay near Shinsaibashi...
Read moreThe hotel is extremely discriminatory towards foreigners!! The good rooms and higher floors are all reserved for locals. Besides the location relatively close to Shinsaibashi, it has no advantages, and the rooms are very dusty. As someone with allergies, I continuously sneezed as soon as I entered the room. There's a Japanese girl at the front desk (wearing a brown uniform and a ponytail) who is very disrespectful to foreigners! She greets Japanese guests warmly, but completely ignores all foreigners, acting as if she doesn't see us. I finally experienced unfriendly behavior from Japanese people, impressed! As soon as you speak English at the front desk, she shows a sour face (I can’t speak Japanese, so what other language can I use?! as i am not a local!!) or directly asks where you are from to categorize you by race. There are plenty of hotels nearby with similar prices, so believe me, don’t stay at this one. Also, there's no parking at the entrance; if you wait even a second for a Uber to somewhere, you will be chased away.BTW, this is the first negative review I’ve given on Trip.com, and it's for this hotel!P.S. I didn’t take a single photo of the room because I...
Read moreFor the cost it was way worst than the hotel we were at in Kyoto. I expected Kyoto hotels to be more expensive than Osaka as it tends to be, but it turned out to be opposite. The room was small, but doable. The bed was firm which is awesome. Location is great, practically next to Shinsaibashi, where you can shop/eat your heart out.
However, the bedding was dirty and also the room too. For a hotel opened in 2018, the condition should really be better. The toilet in our room had a bottom cover that had cracked in half, the washlet wand could not moved forward/backward. The cleaning lady on our floor played loud music and blocked our way with large bags of towels. The front desk was probably the most indifferent I have ever experienced in Japan, most tend to be more courteous.
Would not be returning. Not...
