Omg cute fluffy cats with the softest fur! Almost all of them were pretty mellow and just laid there lazily while we pet them. One was pretty active and I laughed heartily while she slid all over the floor chasing a cat toy. We were each given a small box of what looked like shredded chicken to feed the cats, and these kitties were not shy about coming up to you for num nums. They were very gentle though, my son was able to feed them out of the palm of his hands. The place was very tranquil and very clean and orderly, which was made possible by some basic rules, which include hand washing, changing into slippers they provide (you need to have socks though!), time limited to what you signed up for up front, and no teasing the cats. Staff was very nice despite the language barrier (they do have rules and instructions printed in English, which was helpful). For those animal-rights activists out there, the cats all look very well treated and loved. They charge by the hour, but because we went with my four year old we were limited to thirty minutes (which I totally understand). Cost was 600 yen for kids and 800 for adults. One drink is included, and I got a cafe au lait that was surprising good! When our time was up we were sad to go, but it was a nice thirty minutes spent in a tranquil place with...
Read moreGreat cat cafe. It's obvious that the staff take good care of their cats and that they provide the cats with space to live and to retreat to privacy if overwhelmed.
The rules are straightforward and designed to protect the cats - no carrying / harassing or heavy petting etc, but the environment is also designed to encourage contact with the cats. The cats are all friendly, social, and happy to be petted, and the staff even have toys available to help the more shy customers to bring out the cats!
For the time and cost (~1200 yen for an hour in the cafe), we had a great time and thought the cats and staff were both friendly. A number of customers were also regulars (one who had been visiting twice a week for years), confirming the cafe's commitment to quality and caring for the cats!
Reason for 4*: while they appear to be lovingly treated, there were a lot of cats in the cafe. It was mostly a very calming experience but there were a moment or two when one of the cats decided to pick chaos and wind up one of the others! Perhaps if there were one or two fewer cats, they might each have a...
Read moreThe cafe is host to a great variety of cats with differing personalities, likes and dislikes, et cetera. The cats are relaxed, you can tell they are well cared for. They can take a break if they wish and aren't forced to be around people constantly. The owners are kind and attentive and explain how each cat likes to be interacted with. They clearly care for each cat individually. The cafe is clean and hygienic. Explanations of the rules and profiles of each cat are available in English and Japanese. Guests can take a complementary drink from the fridge when entering. Treats for the cats and rental toys are not included in the entry fee, but they are priced very reasonably. I would recommend this cat cafe to anyone looking to visit a place that treats their animals with care. The only odd thing is the use of AI in creating stickers and visuals for the cafe. I'm not a fan of AI generated images, but I can understand that it is cost effective for a...
