I ordered both the salted coffee and caramel salted matcha drink to try and I was extremely pleasantly surprised that they tasted so good!
I wish Perth, Australia serves these kinds of beverages because I have heard about salted coffees, and other salted drinks for a number of years served by the restaurants in VIETNAM, and thought that you could only taste them if you travelled to VIETNAM. I have been highly curious as to how they would taste. These beverages were absolutely delicious from this place.
The salted coffee was so lovely and unforgettably rich with special egg cream on top.
The matcha drink was also a taste explosion.
I also ordered the vermicelli soup with special pork meatballs, and it was delightful.
My friend ordered the vegetarian bread roll and thoroughly enjoyed it.
My other friend also ordered the spring rolls as well as the fried rice and really loved them, too.
I came back the next day and tried their bread roll. It was so delicious! The bread was just the right crunch – not too fragmented and not too soft. It was also another taste explosion. I thoroughly enjoyed this aromatic experience with the combination of a French-like bread, together with the aromatic herbs inside. All the flavours were well balanced amidst the perfect crunch from the bread.
Being a person with a sweet tooth, I also tried their green dessert with coconut shreds and lotus. It was yummy. I also tried the yoghurt with a type of textural purple rice and it was amazing
I definitely did not expect a good Vietnamese restaurant in Japan!
The service was excellent.
This will surely be my go-to place every time I come back to...
Read moreI ordered the vegetarian Bahn Mi for lunch, and was easily the best Bahn Mi, vegetarian or not, that I've had outside Vietnam. Happily, the bread was the real deal and you could tell it was baked just a few hours earlier morning, so crisp and light! Best of all for anyone who enjoys vegetarian dishes, they're adding a whole lineup of about 8 vegetarian dishes to the menu from next week (early November 2024), which I'm personally looking very forward to coming back and trying. I'll report back on those in the future! BTW, music was good too, with great service by the staff. I also took home some sort of bubble tea drink with coconut milk and some sweet kidney beans and I think sweet potato, which I totally forgot to photograph, which was absolutely delicious. I only order drinks like that maybe once a year and usually regret it since they're nearly always far too sweet, but this one was right on the money. Only just a very slight, natural sweetness, and an amazing texture of the boba and other components. Note for vegans/whole food plant based: You can get a vegan version of vegetarian tofu bahn mi by asking for it without mayo. If I were to order it that way, I might add some of the pickled garlic and peppers from the jar on the table, or some Chin-Su hot sauce (also on the table), to add back to the sandwich some of the moisture and zing provided by the mayo. I didn't try it though so I can't vouch for the flavor...
Read moreI recently visited Oishi Viet Food Osaka, a Vietnamese restaurant in Osaka, and was excited to try their popular dish, Bun Bo Hue. Here's my review:
Bun Bo Hue The Bun Bo Hue was above average, with a rich and flavorful broth. While it was a bit salty, the taste could be adjusted to make it more authentic. Compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I've tried, this one stood out for its quality.
Rating: 7/10 The dish was satisfying, but it didn't quite hit the mark in terms of authenticity.
Desserts The desserts, however, were a highlight! I gave them a 9/10. The Vietnamese desserts were delicious and complemented the meal nicely.
Price The price range of ¥1,500-2,500 per person, including dessert, is reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served.
Location The restaurant is a 10-15 minute walk from the nearest station, which might be a bit of a hike for some. However, the food is worth the walk.
Overall Oishi Viet Food Osaka is a great option for Vietnamese food in Osaka, especially if you're craving Bun Bo Hue. While the dish could be improved in terms of authenticity, the desserts and reasonable prices make it a worthwhile visit.
If you're in the area and looking for a taste of Vietnam, give Oishi Viet Food...
