Read moreThe restaurant is right by the City Walk on 1st floor with a placard on the sidewalk showing all you can eat Shabu shabu or sukiyaki. Adutls 90 minutes American beef, pork, and chicken is around 3340 yen (taxes included) Seniors 90 minutes is 3028...does not include soda pop. If you want wagyu or kobe beef, the prices go up but we were happy with American beef since we already had real Kobe beef in Kobe 2 days ago.
In addition to the meats that they bring to you, there is a huge selection of veggies, tofu, sprouts, konjac noodles, udon, instant noodles, wood fungus, mushrooms, and tofu puffs. Great selection. You get to choose 2 broths for shabu shabu so we chose yuzu and chicken. Both broths were just okay. There were lots of dipping sauces but the sesame one I chose was very salty! ...too salty.
There was also a lovely beef curry but again it was too salty and not too much beef in the curry. Rice is also provided. There was even chicken karaage that was very tasty along with some takoyaki balls which were just so so.
Their ice cream station is wonderful...6 flavours by Haagen Daz and another 6 different flavours not by Haagen Daz. Ex: brown sugar boba; cotton candy; blueberry; and others.
There was also a dessert stations with little cake and jelly squares.
Service is excellent...there was a young Cambodian young man who helped us in English and he was extremely helpful and accommodating. He is a definite asset to the restaurant. He even reminded us about a Senior discount since we are in our 70s and late 60s.
We give Tajiyama Namba City 5 stars for the wonderful service and for its value. The sauces and broths are not the best we have tasted like some other non all you can eat shabu shabu places we had in Osaka but do not forget the price points are quite different. If you want a decent good value Shabu shabu with a good selection of everything and tender tasty meat, then this all you can eat is totally acceptable. But, if you want better tasting broths and dipping sauces, then the all you can eat may not be the...
Read moreWe ordered the premium kobe beef set for 7 people. Each set was worth about ¥8600 so if you do the math, this meal was not cheap. This is an all-you-can-eat meal. Our first two portions of kobe beef were fantastic and the meat really did melt in our mouths. They gave us pork but because our beef was so expensive, we did not want to fill our stomachs with inferior meat (pork) so we only ate a bit of it. The pork was tender and great, but the beef was far better. We proceeded to our third portion of kobe beef and we noticed a slight decrease in tenderness, but we were not sure so we finished the third portion as well. However, once we were given our fourth portion of beef, there was no doubt that the restaurant was not giving us the quality of meat that we paid for. The beef had significantly less flavor and tenderness and we had to chew out beef for a good 30-45 seconds before being able to swallow it properly. This is NOT what kobe beef is. Kobe beef has an insanely high amount of intramuscular fat so it melts in your mouth when you eat it. Super delicious. Our fourth serving of beef was definitely not kobe beef and there was much less marbling than our first serving. The pork that initially seemed inferior to the kobe beef suddenly became super delicious when we tried it again. The dining experience was great in general, don't get me wrong, but I don't appreciate the deception.
Let me finish by saying that we complained about our fourth portion so the server took it away and gave us a new plate of beef. He said that the meat was probably hard because it just came out of the freezer. He gave us a new plate of beef, but it was even less tender and flavorful than the fourth plate which he took away! When we got our bill, we got a 10% discount for no particular reason. Probably...
