Our new favorite secret breakfast spot in Asakusa! Hard to find but worth the effort. Google maps takes you to a roll-up door and you think, this can’t be it? But look up and you’ll see the warmly lit stained glass windows on the 2nd floor. Descend the stairway and you’ll enter a small room decorated with a long bookshelf and old vintage clock that gives it a warm, homey feel. We chose it because it offers both western and Japanese style breakfast which pleases our entire family. The service is warm and friendly and everything here is delicious! In fact, the French toast was the BEST I ever had! They warn you that it takes 20 minutes to make but trust me, it's worth the wait. There's something very cozy and homey about these small mom and pops that keep us coming back over and over. While the big chains might appeal to some, these unique cafes are what makes Japan so wonderful and endearing. We will make this a regular stop whenever we visit Asakusa....
Read moreI came here for breakfast excited about the French toast. I read reviews stating that the French toast was very good and I wanted to try it out. Just a little heads up, there is a little bit of a wait depending on what time you get there. We ended up standing and waiting for up to 30 minutes I would guess. They sit you down and each person orders by scanning a QR code on your table. It is super easy and you just select and confirm what you want to eat and that is it! Once you confirm your order, they will prepare it and bring it out to your table along with your ticket to pay. Once you are finished eating, you go to the corner and self pay by scanning your ticket. (Card only when we went) Very easy!
Now the food- OMG. The French toast was everything I dreamed of and more. It was exactly what I was wanting. It is sweet and gooey and hot! My fiance had the grilled fish set and he said he was delicious. It...
Read moreThis place can be a little hard to find if you're unfamiliar with the area. It's on the second floor and you enter through a narrow stairway. The place is small and extremely popular so be prepared for a wait if you're not here very early.
The staff speak very limited English, but the menu has pictures and you order with a QR code so no Japanese is required. The menu has Western options but I really recommend the Japanese breakfasts - it's hard to find a place with traditional fare that also caters to foreigners.
You are definitely paying for the ambience here. It's got a cozy bookstore vibe and very comfortable sofa-type seating, way better than sitting at counters at a typical diner-type place. As for the food, the standard fare is very standard meal sets that run 700-900yen - admittedly higher than local non-tourist places, but much better value than many hotel breakfasts. I recommend the...
