We were walking along Asakusa during winter this year and this lady was holding a dog standing outside. It's a dog cafe!
Since we were cold and we love dogs we decided to give it a try.
I had been to dog cafe before and had lukewarm experience, so I roughly knew what to expect but hoped it would be different.
We misunderstood the pricing, it ended up more expensive than we thought it would be, but I put the blame on ourselves. However, I was not very happy about how they handled the registrations and checkouts because the time starts while you were still preparing (change shoes etc) and the time didn't stop for unexpected circumstance like long wait during checkouts.
Since we didn't really enjoy the experience, we checked out before an hour, but a group went in just as we wanted to do so and we had to wait for them to do the registration. So we stood there and by the time we got our turn, we thought we still had time but apparently not, the clock was different, we exceeded a few minutes but had to pay a full extra hour for waiting in line because they didn't have a separate check out.
The experience. There were a lot of dogs there, they were cute, but they were bored from too many interactions. Most of them preferred to be left alone, and when we were there there was a fight (which was fine because it was handled right away). If you love dogs, visit shelters instead to give your affections to those that really need and want them instead of exhausted cafe dogs. I learned my lesson, I thought I wanted to try the one in Japan, but it was the same.
The place was clean, brightly lit, with a lot of space for dogs. I assume we were there during non peak period, so on peak period things could be worse.
It was expensive and way beyond our expectation in term of prices because of a few things I...
Read moreWe had a good time here with all the pups! It’s in a nice bright location upstairs right off main street of Harujuku. Nice to take a moment to rest a bit with some cutie pie pups. We didn’t buy snacks for the dogs but still had a great time. One of the workers was so sweet and came over and put a blanket on us that the dogs know to get on and clapped for the pups to come to you. I had 3-4 dogs for a little while on me! They’re all well behaved, well taken care of, and groomed. Happy to contribute to the dogs well-being. They are small dogs, not puppies. I believe the mandatory drink you purchase is all you can drink but maybe best to double check. We were in there about 40 mins and was...
Read moreReally enjoyed our time here! There’s a lot of dogs and they’re quite friendly. The space is kept very clean and the dogs seem happy and healthy. The line to get inside takes a while since they have to explain the rules to everyone, but once you’re inside it’s a chill experience. They have a fridge with canned drinks that you help yourself to (you pay a set fee for all you can drink), otherwise they don’t have anything to offer when it comes to food or drink. You can buy treats (healthy treats like dried chicken) to feed the dogs. You’re not allowed to pick them up, but if you’re lucky enough that they jump into your lap, you can keep them there. I’d come back again, this was a...
