We found this restaurant while searching for a place that was open after a long day of shopping in Ginza. Decided to try this out due to the good ratings and reviews- the restaurant is not easy to find. It's located in the basement of a commercial building behind a door that we definitely overlooked the first time we passed by because it just looked like a service door haha.
When you step through the door in the restaurant however the atmosphere totally changes. It is a small cozy space, for only maybe ~10 people at the counter and another table in the back for 5-6 people. Immediately we were greeted by the owner, a jolly older Japanese gentleman whose demeanor instantly put us in a good mood. We were a bit surprised to find that there were only two options for a set menu but we went along with it anyway. The food was delicious and the chef kept serving us more portions, it was definitely the biggest meal we had during our trip.
Then the owner decided to sit down with us and kept pouring people free whiskey haha and then when I told him I didn't drink he went to the back and brought me some hot matcha tea. Then they gave every party a basket of various Japanese sweets to eat from as much as they wanted. Even though we don't speak any Japanese we ended up staying there for 3+ hours just because we were enjoying the atmosphere so much. There were a couple of locals also dining at the counter and they helped translate the conversation between us and the owner. We also met some fellow travelers and got to enjoy everyone's company. When we were ready to leave one of the locals offered to drive us back to our hotel which we totally did not expect as we were staying over 30min away. It was one of our most memorable experiences during our trip and I think aside from the food what makes this place truly special...

We talked about Canada and the sushi there, and they started engaging with me in conversations and laughing with me and It was the best experience ever. They made me feel like I was part of their family. The chef was skilled like no other, the best salmon and Tuna I ever ate in my life, and the Miso soup was so good. When I was leaving, they even gave me a bunch of gifts to remember them. I will be coming back every single time I visit Japan, the owner of the store was the nicest person ever, you can tell his kindness from the way he greeted me and said goodbye, the chef was phenomenal and such a kind soul, god bless him, I wish him all the best in everything, and Ofcourse the waitress was the kindest and nicest person I met in all of Japan. I wish you all the best in life, you all deserve all the good fortune that is to come your way. Till next time, I will come back speaking Kanji. - The guy...
Read moreFukube Sushi in Ginza is an absolute gem and one of the most memorable dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment you walk in, the warm and welcoming staff make you feel right at home. They genuinely care about their guests and it shows in every interaction.
The set menu was outstanding—each dish was crafted with care and featured the freshest ingredients. What made the experience even more special was the personal touch; the staff took the time to chat with us about our preferences and served us additional items tailored to our tastes, beyond what we initially ordered.
The generosity didn’t stop there. At the end of our meal, we were pleasantly surprised with a goodie bag filled with chocolates, a thoughtful gesture that made our visit even more special.
I can't recommend Fukube Sushi enough. The combination of exquisite food, exceptional service, and thoughtful extras make it a place you'll want to visit again and again. If you're in Tokyo, don’t miss out on this incredible...
