The Story Begins In 1962
The first generation started this journey as a Wagyu merchant. A craftsman who faced cattle, discerned the quality of meat, and honed his skills. Since then, the family business expanded to meat wholesale, butcher shops, and the food industry, I was raised alongside meat as the fifth generation. Wagyu was never a “special occasion treat” for me. I have known its taste since I was a child and it was always close to me. However, in my 30s, when I visited America, that feeling was greatly shaken. The “WAGYU” I encountered there was completely different from the Wagyu I knew. Cattle from Australia and America were circulated as “Wagyu,” and many people smiled as they ate, saying, “Is this Wagyu?” Seeing that scene brought me both surprise and frustration.
What ‘Real Wagyu’ Truly Means
And to avoid misunderstandings, let me talk a little about the “real Wagyu” we select. I visit livestock farms all over Japan and purchase only Wagyu that I truly accept by the whole head. My idea of “real Wagyu” is not the industrially fattened Wagyu with excessive fat that was once popular in Japan. Rather, it is Wagyu raised healthily with meat that has truly delicious red meat— Wagyu with umami and tenderness in the meat itself, not just in the fat—this is what I consider “real.” Now, among Japanese gourmets, this type of Wagyu is attracting the most attention. Therefore, I want you to experience this highly valued “real taste” of Japan at our store. From the perspective of safety, to ensure that Muslim customers can also enjoy with peace of mind, I personally select Wagyu processed at the few halal-certified slaughterhouses in Japan, and only procure those I am confident in.
Real Wagyu, For Everyone
This style embodies the desire to deliver a Wagyu experience that anyone can enjoy comfortably, regardless of nationality, religion, age, or gender. That is why we create a restaurant without alcohol. For those who abstain from alcohol for religious reasons, and for families with small children, we want it to be a place where anyone can feel safe to enter. However, our store is not just for a specific group of people. This place was born to deliver the charm of real Wagyu to everyone in the world. It is good to savor each slice carefully, but sometimes, enjoy it lavishly and to your heart’s content. We want to make real Wagyu available to people all over the world. That is the wish of “Godaime Wagyu Tokyo.”

The restaurant is situated in an historic part of Tokyo and has a great indoor seating section with a view of the chef. The wagyu sushi was delicious and a thin slice was able to deliver a lot of flavour, highlighting the quality of the meat they used. In addition, the condiments added to the top of the sushi were creative and very complimentary. The top middle bite in the image was prepared with a sukiyaki gel, an innovative and extremely delicious addition to the meal. The dining experience is completed with theatre from the chef in the form of a tableside brûlée. Both the chef and waiter spoke English as well as Japanese, providing a comfortable experience as tourists....

The best Halal wagyu restaurant in Asakusa! From the experience to the atmosphere and of course the taste and the showmanship, we were blown away~ The waitress smiles all the time and is very patient and the chef if a sweet heart that takes great care of his customers. He took the time to explain every step of his process and talked about his experience toward becoming a chef. They have menu available in English, Korean, Chinese, Arabic and of course Japanese. We were about to go back home but the Halal offer grabbed us by the stomach and we enjoyed the advice of the chef by trying the Wagyu sushi (it's fire grilled in front of you so it's cooked, not raw.)...

The food here was very good. I tried the wagyu sushi, and it was so delicious. Each piece was made carefully, and had different flavours. The chef was very welcoming and nice, explaining what each piece was, making the experience much more enjoyable.

Each piece was unique, flavourful and impactful. Whilst some pieces reminded me of dishes I have before, some were completely new and refreshing but all had a smokey and rich flavour.

The service was very good with the server being attentive and the chef being so inviting.

Would recommend if you want 100% authentic wagyu unlike any...

My wife and I were among the first customers on our final night in Tokyo! This is the third location of a 5th generation wagyu chef. They are extremely picky about their beef, only selecting the top 5% of meat from around the country. We had a selection of wagyu sushi, and the meat was not too lean or too fat. They will toast it with a torch right in front of you! All the beef is halal. The staff is extremely friendly, and we chatted with the manager about his time in the US. If you are staying in Asakusa, definitely give it a try!
