Kotobuki Seian Asakusa Matcha – A Matcha Lover’s Dream in the Backstreets of Asakusa
While exploring the quieter corners of Asakusa, we came across Kotobuki Seian, a tiny shop tucked at the end of a narrow alley. Although the setup is simple and unassuming, the matcha crepe they serve is nothing short of exceptional. It is rich, creamy, and layered with premium matcha flavour that is neither too bitter nor too sweet.
The crepe is soft yet holds its shape well, rolled into a neat cone filled with light whipped cream, chewy mochi, and red bean paste. A generous dusting of matcha powder on top completes the experience. It is both delicious and aesthetically pleasing, making it popular with food lovers and casual tourists alike.
There is no seating, so this is best enjoyed as a takeaway treat while walking through the nearby streets. Despite its location away from the main crowds, it attracts a steady stream of customers who know where to look.
Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys matcha or is looking for a unique street food experience in Tokyo. This is one of those small gems that leaves a...

It's hidden in an alley (technicallynot even an alley), so you need to search for it. Ordering is through a ticket machine that's next to their tiny kitchen window. You basically pick the price that matches what you want. After picking up the ticket and reaching the head of the queue, the staff then asks what flavour you want, and you wait to get it through the window.
It's really a cone-shaped dough which they call crepe. I had expected layers and layers like a mille feuille. So we got 2 different flavours and it's really meh-ish. After you get past the topping and cream, there's a large section of dough that's only matcha flavour, and at the bottom of it, you get some nuts and a little chocolate (or whatever flavour you ordered).

Read moreI am not sure why the review is so low here? The matcha crepe is really good! It cost cheaper from the competitor next door, but it is still recommended if you like matcha!! The store only serves take away, but there is an outdoor seats near the store. I heard during weekends there can be a line( I visited during weekdays, and there was only 2 people in front of me). You ordered from the machine to get a ticket ( the crepe all cost the same), and give it to the staff (The staff only served 2 customers at a time, so you need to be patient. But the services was pretty quick and the staff was friendly too). Highly...
