Kuraji — Restaurant in Tokyo

Went with some foreign friends to this restaurant and was very impressed with the great food at a reasonable price.

They used 30 days aged pork. You can choose a fattier cut or a leaner cut choose between a spicier or sweeter sauce. I had 300g of the fattier cut with the sweet sauce. The outside was nice and crispy and the inside was very juicy not over cooked at all.

Even if you wait it’s worth it, they take your order as you wait and it’s ready not too long after sitting down.

They have some nice small side dishes like soup, pickled vegetables, and mashed potatoes.

The service was very nice and the kitchen looked very clean and bright. You can see everything that goes on in the kitchen.

Wasn’t too crowded for a weekday....

First Tonkatsu experience for me. I am still giddy with how good the meal was. I had to do some reading as there is a bit of a process and order to eating the meal. I had Tonkatsu in another restaurant and only after I realized just how good this place actually is... Phenomenal.

Update: Brought my family this time, wife and two kids ate for 40K yen, all of us filled to the brim, will be back again, love this place.

Update2: Visited for probably the 8th time now, I have lost count over the last 8 months. Just as good as the first time I tried. I have searched high and low for a similar Tonkatsu restaurant, nothing has...

Tonkatsu at an amazing value! I was rather hungry as I skipped lunch so I ordered the large version. (There is a medium portion) but the price difference is about 10%. The set comes with some small vege appetisers and a beautifully brewed bowl of soup which was sumptuous! The highlight was of course the pork - I opted for the Rosu cut which came thick and in fact pinkish in some parts. The crumbs were fried really crisp and crunchy but the meat was tender and tasted wonderful with the sauce. The entire set cost 1540 yen. Tremendous...
