Overall, I think this was a decent stay. I stayed here for 8 nights and I will list all the pros and cons below:||||Pros:||+ Staff was excellent, with most speaking decent English and very friendly and responsive to requests||+ Location is pretty convenient with proximity to Akasaka Excel Tokyu Hotel (good if you are using the Airport Limousine Bus which will drop you off there) so it was a short 3 min walk to the hotel across the street. There are also 3 subway lines nearby: Akasaka-Mitsuke, Akasaka, and Nagatacho||+ Hotel gives free water, soup, and continental breakfast||+ They provide a free cel phone to use while you're there (I didn't know about this until after I checked into my room, which would have been great as I already bought a SIM card)||||Cons (negatives):||- Room was very small. I know, this is Japan, so you were probably already expecting it, but I still didn't expect it to be this small based on the pictures I saw online. You cannot lay a large suitcase down and open it up without leaning part of it against the wall.||- The hot water in the shower was not working properly everyday. There were spurts in the shower when it would go cold really quick and then scalding hot the next second. I had to learn this pattern so I could jump out of the way when it was super hot to avoid burns. It did this every time I took a shower, but I learned to live with it.||- The carpets seemed to be dirty (the pattern on the carpet is such that you can't tell if it's really dirty, but I could tell it was dirty).||- The lighting is not too bright in the room or bathroom||- Since the bathroom is so small, there really isn't anywhere to place your personal toiletries other than on top of the toilet seat.||- There is no electrical outlet in the bathroom, so I had to use the hairdryer in the bedroom area while sitting on my bed.||- For some reason, my keycard kept getting de-magnetized. I had to get a new keycard 4 different times during my stay. This was highly inconvenient. The guy at the front desk suggested maybe it's because I had it near other cards in my wallet or man-bag, but I made sure to keep it separate on a few other occasions and it still happened. There's something wrong with their machines, I guess.||||Overall, it was a decent stay and I would definitely consider it again though due to the location. There are a lot of great drinking/eating...

Read moreWe were disappointed with our stay at this hotel.
First impression after taking the elevator up to our room, the general area was dark and uninviting. When we got into our room there was a strong moldy-musty odour. The bed sheets were made and new towels were provided, but the overall room was dirty. The carpet was visibly not vacuumed, there was still food crumbs left from the previous person. The worst thing of all was the shower. There was a tremendous amount of visible mold in the grouts and strong odour as well. The room was poorly lit in the bathroom and the bedroom which made it hard to see. We stayed in a non-smoking room, however in the middle of the night we could smell someone smoking through the vents. There was only 1 electrical outlet in the room which was placed at an inconvenient spot for us to even charge our phones. Overall it was an uncomfortable experience staying at this hotel, that we had to cancel our 2nd night stay
The only positive thing we have to say is the location is convenient to Akasaka station. The staff is very nice and accommodating, unlike other hotels, this hotel offered complimentary light breakfast (breads, cereals, coffee, teas) and unlimited bottles of water that you can take at your...
