Ordered TARABA+OOTORO(大トロ Grand Fatty Tuna) DON for ¥5500 (about $35 USD) but got something totally different and the fish is red instead of pink which means it’s not grand fatty tuna at all (the pinker the more fat) and it’s totally not chewable (see pictures). What we got was just some bad quality tuna, not OOTORO at all… BTW they were even not flat pieces but folded pieces that cut from some corners…
Complained about it with the owner and got the fish pieces replaced (they brought the new 4 pieces and asked us to return the 4 red pieces). You can tell that the new ones were pink, but still they were not chewable (see last picture). So it’s still of bad quality..
Doesn’t worth the money at all! There are way many better options in the city and of much better quality and better price…
The one last tip is if you don’t like the dish you should tell them upfront and get it refunded, instead of bearing with the bad quality and finishing the dishes.

Read moreThis restaurant at Tsukiji Market left much to be desired, falling short of expectations, particularly given its price point. I ordered the Negidon (Tuna Bowl), which was disappointing—the tuna slices looked completely different from the images shown in their menu photos. While the plate of Yellow Tail Sashimi was decent it couldn’t salvage the meal.
Adding to the disappointment was the miso soup, which seemed half-assedly prepared. The miso paste hadn’t been mixed thoroughly, and oddly enough, it contained wakame more reminiscent of Chinese soup textures, which felt out of place. The total meal amounted to ¥2,500 which is severely overpriced considering the ingredient quality.
Dining at Tsukiji Market often feels like a gamble, with many establishments capitalising on tourist crowds by charging high prices for mediocre food. Marukita Kaisendon, unfortunately, fell into this pattern, offering subpar food that doesn’t quite...
Read moreI was looking for a place that had indoor seating and served sashimi rice bowls as it was one of the main reasons I had walked down to Tsukiji in the rain and amongst the throngs of tourists. Tsukiji was much more busy than I remember so when I found this place that had a few seats available, I quickly made my way in and sat down. I ordered a mix bowl which was about 4000Y and it a little bit of tuna, fatty tuna, yellowtail, sea urchin and crab roe. It was served with a few slices of egg omelette and over a bed of fragrant seasoned Japanese rice. Absolutely heaven in a bowl !
The place satisfied by craving and the service was okay given how busy it was and they did serve me a cup of tea which was nice given others don't serve you anything expecting you to buy...
