Very disappointing yakiniku experience in Tokyo.
First of all, we were forced to order at least one drink per person as soon as we sat down, and the drinks were not cheap. The most ridiculous part: they only offered free water after we had already ordered 2–3 drinks. Why not provide water from the beginning? It felt like a trick to make customers spend more.
Food: • Most of the beef was tough, bland, and lacked real beef flavor, with a lot of gristle. • Seasoning was extremely limited — basically just lemon and teriyaki sauce for everything. • A few cuts were slightly more tender, but still nothing worth the price. • One dish with truffle was poorly prepared — the staff shaved truffle all over the table, then mixed raw egg with beef so carelessly that the table became messy and unhygienic.
Service: • Only one staff member was covering multiple tables, so guests were left unattended. • Even when our meat was clearly overcooking on the grill, no one came to assist. • The overall service felt careless and unprofessional, far below the standard expected at this price point.
We paid over ¥60,000 for four people, and it was absolutely not worth it. Another red flag: the restaurant was filled almost entirely with foreign tourists — no locals in sight — which says a lot about the target customers.
👉 Overall: Not recommended. Overpriced, poor service, mediocre food. Definitely not...
Read moreTokyo’s Life-Changing Yakiniku Experience at Misuzi by Yoroniku 🥩 Originally, I wanted to book Yoroniku, but due to the strict reservation system, I couldn’t secure the slot I wanted. Instead, I opted for this sister restaurant, and the value was unexpectedly amazing!
I chose the 14,000 yen premium set:
At first, the cold dishes served were quite average. Only two dishes were somewhat good. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much at this point. The grilled items from the earlier courses were decent, with a subtle hint of sweetness. While nice, it didn’t feel particularly special. Then came the rare parts, which immediately blew me away! I never imagined that rare parts could be this amazing. It was like the first bite ignited a food awakening! And then the sushi appeared, its presentation with grilled marks was particularly stunning. Even the cold noodle was exceptional! The fried sesame topping added a mesmerizing aroma. Finally, the sweet ice cream was extraordinarily delicious.
Besides the food, the service was also top-tier, with every slice of meat carefully grilled for you. The entire process was well-structured, and I highly recommend this place in Tokyo....
Read moreWe love Japan and visit almost every year. This time, however, was pretty much the worst eating experience ever.
Starting with the reception lady ushering us into this seating for two.
We understand that popular restaurants can get cocky and line up the seats very densely. But the reception lady insisted that we stay in this seat when there were other normal seats for two, and when we asked to be switched to the normal seat for two next to us, the waitress coldly turned us down.
Twenty minutes later, a couple of locals were ushered into that seat.
And here we were in a seat where we couldn't stretch our legs because the tabletop was so small that the food tray was even put into that sharp corner of the triangular tabletop that we'd have to be gibbons to touch.
If businesses don't like tourists, there are plenty of ways to avoid hosting them in the first place, to avoid embarrassment for both parties. Instead, we were made to feel it through the discrimination of assigned seating.
There was no change of grill pan throughout.
The beef was marinated in...
