Pontocho Shinjuku Main Store — Restaurant in Tokyo

We came here on one of the first nights of our trip and really wanted to try this place but the waiter said they were fully booked even though the place was nearly empty. I walked out disappointed and 5 minutes later my girlfriend walked in without me and he gave her 2 seats straight away.

The food was absolutely amazing and the some of the best we had on our trip, on the final night of the trip I wanted to go back and eat there again as it was so good.

Same again... guy took one look at me and said we were fully booked even though it was totally empty at 9pm. Super disappointing.

I would say if you are a foreigner maybe book online so they can't judge your appearance...

Stopped by here alone. Even not alone, the experience was amazing! It's okay to come with groups and for going alone, they have a bar which was nice. You take off your shoes so it's traditional sitting which is awesome. The food was so good and I wish I could had tried more. You won't regret. They had a English menu you use on their iPad and it has pictures for most of the items. If you are looking for specific picture, I would show it to them and they gladly tell me if they have it or not. My waiter struggled with English but I'm happy to see him try! So my experience was awesome and it's my last for my vacation and I say, I don't regret my last dinner in...

Great spot! They give you a tablet and the entire menu can be in English. You order items as you go right on the tablet digitally and your choices delivered to your table promptly. You keep the tablet the entire time.

We were sat at the bar and you are seated western style (bench). If you’re at a table you need to sit on the ground on pillows. If you’re a tourist I hope you’re flexible!
