Upon my visit to Rokurinsha at Tokyo Solamachi, my expectations were high given its reputation for tsukemen. However, the experience was the WORST by far in Japan.
Firstly, the wait time was excessively long, because the waiter forgot to take our order and kept us waiting for at least half an hour after I made the payment and sat down at the table.
The staff seemed overwhelmed, and there was a noticeable lack of courtesy which detracted from the dining experience.
The food, unfortunately, did not meet the standards one might expect from such a talked-about place. The tsukemen's broth, famed for its richness, came across as overly greasy and salty and lacked the depth of flavor I was anticipating. The noodles, while having a good texture, were served at a temperature that was neither hot nor cold, diminishing the overall taste. Moreover, the pork was dry without anything special.
I ate only 25%, which never occurred to my trip in Japan.
In summary, Rokurinsha Tokyo Solamachi might have been a gem once, but my experience was marred by subpar service, average food quality, and an overall sense of being just another number in their daily turnover. For those looking to experience Tokyo's best tsukemen, you might want to explore other...
Read moreWe had a few hours to kill before needing to ride Skyliner to Narita and decided to have lunch here. I would say that it was pretty tasty, not the most insane bowl of noodles I have had but no where near the worst. The tsukemen is really popular here and I wish got it instead of the ramen variety. I felt the ramen was moreso a watered down flavor of the tsukemen broth, and with the tsukemen you can add for hot water once you have dipped through your noodles so you can get more food. Many of the items (egg, chashu especially) still felt pretty cold, even after a few minutes of sitting in the hot broth making for an interesting food experience. The ramen were at a good price fully loaded, and the staff was lively, friendly and helpful. Mall food is always hit or miss, I think this was a good spot to grab a quick lunch but I would not make a voyage to eat here. There is an English menu. This place does get pretty busy, even on a weekday between lunch and dinner rush so be...
Read morePicked this ramen restaurant among all the other ones located on the 6th floor of tokyo solamachi because it has the longest queue. Came in on Saturday at 6.30pm, and we ended up eating at around 7.15pm.
Basically, there are two types of ramen served, soup and dip versions. I prefer the soup one hands down because the broth is rich, while the texture of the noodle is just right and chewy. The dip version is a bit too salty. Flavor wise, it is also not as great as the soup one.
Note to caution, they mean business when they provided the large portion alternative for an additional 100 yen, it's a lot of...
