This was my second time visiting a sushizanmai. The first time I visited one, I raved about it for a year long, maybe even more because it was just that good. Maybe it was the market moving or just the current japanese econom, but it seemed like sushizanmai had changed. The portions felt a bit small comparatively to it's past self but it's still better than almost all of the conveyer sushi out there. It still tasted great but I couldn't help compare it to it's past self. For the price, the food is great.
The service, well, it was like in this awkward place of being a high grade sushi place and conveyer sushi. We sat in the counters, so what you need to do is tell your order to whoever is behind the counter which felt nice but thing is they are also responsible for making sushi for the other tables as well. So there's this long awkward period where you just watch them make sushi. It neither had the quickness of a conveyer sushi nor the personal catering that you feel from a high grade place.
This shop is just in front of the station so you don't really feel that fish market vibe. Then again, I went on a weekend so can't really fault them. This one is very personal but i wasn't a fan.
Overall, if you want great sushi, go for it. All the other stuffs are optional, makes just subtle difference.
Tip: Always order the sushi basics (salmon nigiri, maguro, and such) first to get an idea of...
Read moreSushi Zanmai, conveniently located near the Tsukiji Market in Tokyo, offers an authentic and delightful dining experience that caters well to both locals and tourists. My family and I enjoyed a lunch here where the freshness of the sushi was unmistakably the highlight. The ambiance of the restaurant is welcoming, with a friendly staff that adds to the overall pleasant atmosphere.
Despite the bustling environment, each dish we ordered came out consistently well-prepared. We found ourselves ordering more as the meal progressed, captivated by the quality of the sushi. The bill totaled over 10,000 yen, reflecting both our enjoyment and the reasonable pricing for such high-quality offerings in Tokyo.

It's a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy a traditional sushi experience in the heart of Tokyo. Read moreAwesome to sit at bar and watch your sushi chef prepare your sashimi or niguri roll. The unagi and scallops was awesome, but I was slightly disappointed with the tuna sashimi set because the otoro fatty tuna was stringy. I can always tell great from average sashimi when the stringy part melts in your mouth. We sat around 10:30am with a two minute wait. Price was very reasonable at 6200 yen for two of us. We had the sashimi set, salmon roll, nigiri (two salmon, two chef special broiled maguro, two scallop, horse mackeral, and unagi), They will try to push you to buy specialty drinks but house green tea was fine with us. All in all, a great day at the...
