Cheese Naan is a paradise for cheese and curry lovers!

Cheese Naan is a paradise for cheese and curry lovers!

TL;DR: If you want to get scammed or sick, come here. The man who runs this Indian restaurant saw me yesterday after I finished an amazing meal a couple of doors down from this place, and I told him I would be back the next day with my daughter who enjoys Indian food. So today we get to the restaurant at 8PM and the same guy who I presume is the owner/waiter, comes and seats me and my family. I told this guy that my wife and other younger daughter had already eaten dinner, but that I wanted to treat my older daughter (8 years old) to some butter chicken and Naan since I saw him yesterday outside the restaurant. So I look at the menu and translated it from Japanese: "For those who choose the set meal, if you choose naan: All-you-can-eat naan." Well, the butter chicken set with cheese naan cost 1,320 Yen and we ordered that. *SICK ALERT* The first sign that I should have taken my family and left was when the owner took our order back to the kitchen and along the way, began hacking and coughing into his arm and sleeve, with a gurgling of phlegm you just KNOW cannot be good news coming from the person shuttling back and forth between customers and the kitchen. Well, we bit the proverbial bullet and stayed for the food. When the food came out, the cheese naan was cut up into 4 small wedges (not the large foot-long naan you may see in other reviews). My daughter and I (well, mostly my 8 year old daughter), finished nearly all the small amount of butter chicken that came in the tiny metal ramekin and so I thought "well, we'll wrap up this snack with one more order of the cheese naan since the menu said "For those who choose the set meal, if you choose naan: All-you-can-eat naan." I told the owner/waiter that I just wanted one more order of the cheese naan to please my daughter so she could sop up the little remaining butter naan in the small metal bowl. *SCAM ALERT* When the 2nd order of cheese naan came out (4 small wedges), the owner/waiter scribbles an extra charge of around 600+ Yen instead of the free order that was advertised. "OH, YOU HAVE FAMILY OF 4, YOU SHARE MEAL, I CHARGE YOU SEPARATE ORDER NAAN," he screamed. Oh god, seriously? First, my wife and younger daughter didn't even want to come here but I convinced them to do so Are you that horrible of a restaurant owner that you have to trick your customers to make 600 extra yen? It's not like I was sitting there trying to figure out how to split one order 4 ways just to get extra naan. Jesus, we had not even ordered any extra naan until this point! Anyway, I got up and told him that I was not going to touch the extra cheese naan since he was deceptive in his advertising. He kept insisting he was going to charge me more, until I told him - No, you lied. I paid the 1,320 Yen in cash and got my family out of that restaurant holding on to my wallet in case the owner/waiter had other ideas. You have been forewarned!!! If you have a family with kids, DO NOT come here, especially if other people in your party are not interested in eating. If you don't leave with a hole in your wallet, you may just leave with a respiratory virus - at least there is something there they don't charge for.

For the price this is good and will fill you up. You choose the curries you want and get naan which is okawari/free refill. 3 stars = not bad but not somewhere we'd go out of our way to eat (2.5 being the average). Had the ¥ 990 (3 curries - chicken keema, veggie, spinach & cheese + naan, egg and rice) and ¥790 (2 curries - okra&eggplant, chicken keema+naan). The keema was least fav. The veggie ones were more to our taste.

Not awful, but nothing to recommend it. Lunch set of nan, 2 curries, 3 tandoori items was 1,590 yen with no drink, no salad. Tandoori was not particularly flavorful. Curries were OK but nothing special. Dessert was fruit in yogurt which most customers seemed to leave uneaten. Interior is shabby. There are way better choices in Shinjuku such as Raj Mahal or Masala Dining, not to mention stellar options elsewhere like Nataraj or Nirvanam, for the same cost. Maybe OK for the local office lunch crowd, but you...

It was a bit difficult for us to find this restaurant, took us maybe 15 minutes to browse through the building. The problem might be because we came for dinner and this area is in the midst of office jungle, busier during lunch hours. Anyways, dinner was OK. The server did not speak English much so the cook helped us choose from the menu. Not many choices for vegetarian, only 2 types of curries (mushroom and kabocha) and subzi (potatoes, okra). Relatively affordable, about...
