Toraji Marunouchi Building — Restaurant in Tokyo

Toraji — a local recommendation for the top flavour at the mall, and it didn’t disappoint. The restaurant was fully booked, but service was impressively fast and efficient.

Highlight of the meal was definitely the beef tongue — thick, tender, with a beautifully burnt exterior and a melt-in-your-mouth texture inside. We also tried a few premium meat sets, which were decent but not outstanding. The marinated meats weren’t my favourite as the sauces masked the natural beef flavour; the non-marinated cuts were much better.

I went there with a friend for something between lunch and dinner, and ended up staying for about 4 hours. We ordered only one leisure course to start with because we planned to order single items later. It was definitely more than I alone could have eaten. The meat was great. There was also a shrimp, and the course included a really nice salad, vegetables, a cold soup (that I didn't eat since it had the fish broth I can't eat), and dessert (two ice-creams. I met another family who were in Tokyo for a day and had recommended this place. I went with the impression I was going for Yakiniku and I was surprised when the menu was obviously different.

It’s actually a Korean BBQ restaurant with Japanese beef. I really enjoyed the meat although being in the Marunouchi district means you are paying premium prices.
