Possibly the best and expensive food experience in Japan. This chain sells meals (Teishoku定食 in Japanese. By definition it means it has an entree , miso soup and rice) versus à la carte items. All of the items represent standard home cooking. The temptation is to buy items that look familiar to your palate. These of course will taste good to you. But I recommend that you choose from items that you typically don’t eat. This restaurant is a safe place to try and experience new flavors, such as fish, vegetables and egg dishes.

In recent years this restaurant has become popular with tourist making it busy most all the time. Try to go on the off-peak hours for a better chance at a more leisurely dining experience.

This restaurant requires you to buy a ticket from the machine right in side the front door. This unfortunately causes a line of people that block the entrance. As a result the person who is at the machine trying to decide what to order feels pressured to make their selection. Since you should spend time perusing the various menu items, the recommendation is to just wait until nobody is in line to buy your tickets. The menu is in various languages so you should be able to look for that unusual dish you choose to try.

Unfortunately not one of their dishes are gluten-free. There’s nothing for celiac to eat...

This was our go to place when we stayed in the Asakusa area in Tokyo. We went there for two nights. There wasn't much of a queue when we went around 8 pm. Ordered through a machine with English options, paid and received tickets. A nice elderly lady got us seated, collected the tickets and left the counterpart in a small container meant for this, another example of immaculate Japanese attention to perfection. Food are set menus with options for additional rice and Japanese tea at no cost. We tried a great variety over two nights. Stir Fried Pork & Vegetables, Fried Chicken with Tartar Sauce, Pork Cutlet Simmered in Miso Sauce, Pork Cutlet & Egg Rice Bowl, Nagasaki-Style Noodles and Ginger Pork. The main dishes mostly come with cabbage on the side, a bowl of rice, Miso Soup, a pickle and sometimes Cold Tofu. We also had sides of Japanese Omelet and Deep-Fried Chicken. Very tasteful, filling, pocket friendly complemented by courteous behavior from staff. Always...

Delicious and very cheap. The waiters are very sweet and they are always checking if you need anything or arranging the people and seating to make sure everyone gets a table when the place is busy.

There is a machine at the entrance where you order and you can pay with credit card. You can change the language of the machine to English.

We ordered two traditional breakfast meal and added an omelette, for me, wife and son. Wow! Plenty of food for the three of us and delicious. First time eating raw egg with rice and I really enjoyed it! We loved breakfast so much that we went back for lunch and they didn't disappoint. We ordered three meals, beef tongue, angus beef and one with pork, and again we...
