We chose AKA because we wanted to sample genuine Latvian cuisine, the restaurant was fairly quiet as it was midweek in early April but there was a nice atmosphere and the waitress was very polite and helpful. We had the potato pancakes and gray peas as our two appetizers and I had cod in a rhubarb wine sauce and my wife had grilled salmon and roast potatoes, all the food was well cooked and presented and the portions were generous. I only sampled the draught beer but the wine selection seemed quite extensive. The service wasn't very quick but there was only one server and one chef so the waiting time was reasonable, I would definitely recommend AKA to anyone who would like to sample quality Latvian food at a very reasonable price.

The food was amazing. My only regret is ordering too much and not being able to finish all the food. The sorrel soup pleasantly surprised me, it was sooooooo tasty. Service may seem "slow", but honestly, that didn't bother me as it gave off a really chill vibe. But you may wish to consider other establishments if you don't have time to spare. Pity I only discovered this place on my last day in Riga. Would have loved to visit one last time for the soup.

Nice and friendly service. Restaurant seemed a bit empty, and prices were on the steeper side. We were disappointed to learn that many traditional dishes were not available such as blood sausages, pork soup and two other desserts (of what we asked). Only cheesecake was available. I would not necessarily recommend this place or return, but believe this place spares itself because of the service, free wifi, clean toilet and alcohol selection.

"Agressively awful"

Two weeks advanced reservation for 23 people. 5 days prior we followed up. The staff opened the restaurant an hour late and we're pretty hostile about it all.

In 3 hours they managed to not serve all of the meals, what was served was undercooked (hello trichinosis and potential for food poisoning).

Honestly this was the most disappointing meal I have had in decades. Surly staff, thrift store table ware, shortage of paper at the table, repeatedly forgotten orders culminating in half of our crew not eating, and the rest of us being served bland and undercooked slop.

If you are considering this place, save yourself the pain and go-to the KFC around the corner, even KFC is better than this, and you will actually get something to eat in less...

As a visitor I was curious to try Latvian food but was very disappointed with the experience. I had cod in rhubarb wine sauce with vegetables, sorry to say it was bland and made me sad. It reminded me of hospital food or something you would give a small child. My partner had pork ribs with cabbage & potatoes and he said it was alright, meets expectations, although he had to add salt. Overall an underwhelming gastronomical experience for me, although the ambience was quite...
