Heard a lot of rave review of this place. Decided to try this place out
We have a big display dish. Presentation looks great but the item inside is pale in comparison. Would not order this again.
We had the wanyou soup. Inside is chicken stock with pig intestine, scallops and mushroom. Its a big thumbs up for me!
Black bean curd with luishan sauce is very nice. Classic salted egg fish skin is very crispy and nice too! Iberico pork is good. And veg is fried to almost perfection. The char siew and roasted pork is solid!
Room for improvements: quite a couple of items we want to eat is out of stock such as cod fish, white bamboo with bacon and even dessert! I guess is teething issue with a new restaurant.
Our service manager is exceptional with his knowledge and recommendation. Look for paul ho.
I would come here again to try other ala carte dish. Hopefully i cna give a five star rating in future. Hold on for my next review in a couple of...
Read moreI couldn’t explain how the food serving took that long with only 3 tables in the restaurant on a Saturday night!! 😰
It took almost 45 mins (?)(!) of waiting time. The restaurant manager clarified there was a total of 4 chefs working in kitchen but dishes will be served per table by table — After the first two tables has finished their food only comes our dishes.. 😰 It leads a customer to think: what if the restaurant was full house with more than 15 existing tables (??) 😰😰😰😰😰
Food portion is too small for family dining with price tagged, dishes served were not hot enough, food standard is lower than average. A few dishes like Indonesian Curry Prawns where curry tasted good but prawns were not fresh… 😰
🅿️ Free parking under premises can only be redeemed if you use a Touch n Go card but no advice was given when making reservation via phone. For sure, not a happy experience hence definitely no...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer with HLX for the past 5 years and every visit has been perfect. Their Peking duck is wayyyyyy better than Restaurant Pekin easily. I loved the Peking duck served with the crepe, then the meat served separately, and finally optional second cooking! Either the rice, Hong Kong noodle or ee mian are all great options. We also super enjoyed their sweet and sour pork.
The price is also super reasonable for the ambience and food. We ate at their current Peking duck promo (88RM only!!!). And top up 10RM for a second cooking. A duck done three ways for 98RM. It's crazy good deal, I just wished they would continue this promo longer.
I would also like to commend Apple who has always been helpful and always serving with a smile.
The restaurant is also conveniently located just below Austin Park Hotel so it's great to visit when...
