Romans Winehouse — Restaurant in Johor

The whole ambience of this restaurant which was supposed to be 4stars (at least), was ruined by a medium hair length aunty staff. She should be the manager of the waitress, which makes the whole dining environment very tensed. I suppose this is a chill restaurant but she managed it as a fastfood restaurant 😂. Walking around fast and furious with her high heels, giving her staffs pressure to non stop checking on our table, keep asking us whether we want to buy more drinks… etc.. makes the whole environment very tensed, very uncomfortable. Once she appear in the dining hall, all her staffs also become very tensed. The speed of the staffs walking around the restaurant almost like slow run pace. 😅 This Aunty Manager overall rude, especially when we told her that we are not ordering any wine. She immediately inform us our dining duration is 2 hours, in a very unpleasant attitude. She also IMMEDIATELY clear our plates glasses once the food finish, but actually one of my daughter still having food on her plate. It’s really a very unpleasant experience. I visited this place based on a friend’s recommendation, but honestly, I don’t see what’s so great about it. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare, but it came out almost medium well. The other dishes were also just average.

What bothered me the most was the service. Despite spending quite a bit of money, the staff—some of whom appeared to be managers—were busy drinking and chatting with what looked like their acquaintances, completely ignoring our table. We had to call out several times, wait, and even try to make eye contact just to get their attention. In the end, I had to walk over and speak to them myself.

After finishing a whole bottle of wine, someone finally came to our table—only to ask if we wanted to order another one. At a place like this? Absolutely not.

I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. The food was disappointing — the taste was bland and uninspired, more reminiscent of a cheap eatery than a restaurant charging premium prices. The presentation was average at best, nothing that made the dishes stand out. What really put me off were the sauces — thin, watery, and lacking in depth, giving the impression that corners were being cut.

To make matters worse, there was no house pour wine available, which is surprising and disappointing for a place that seems to market itself as more upscale. For the price point, I expected a more refined selection.

Service-wise, it was just average — nothing particularly welcoming or attentive. Overall, it felt like the restaurant is trying to be something it’s not, charging high prices without delivering on quality or experience. Definitely not worth a return visit.
