About coffee...While you may drink coffee every day, unless you've lived in a coffee-producing country you may have no idea what a coffee tree looks like. A coffee tree is a woody perennial evergreen, covered with dark-green, waxy leaves growing opposite each other in pairs. They can grow 30 feet (9 m) high, but in cultivation, coffee trees are kept short for easier harvesting. It takes three or four years after planting for the tree to become productive. The tree produces fragrant white blossoms (some say the blossoms smell like jasmine), and then, nearly a year later, the coffee cherries mature. A coffee tree produces continuously: One plant can be flowering, have immature beans and mature cherries all at the same time. Each tree can produce beans that make between 1 and 1.5 pounds (0.45 and 0.68 kg) of roasted coffee...

Located conveniently beside Shangri La Hotel and within sight of the mainroad. This simple and yet upscale decorated cafe caught my eyes while checking out the city. Ordered a couple of coffees..Soy Flat White,Soy Piccolo and their Natural Blend espresso,which is medium roast. All tasted FANTASTIC! They also have a darker roast. Barista is knowledgeable about his product. Stumbled upon,i believe is the owner,Mr David. Humble and friendly guy. Apparently,Mr David's family owns the coffee plantation in Indonesia! Good selections of pastries as well. They do sell their beans as well,just ask the barista. A must try coffee place if you are...

Located at the ground level of Menara Haw Par, this is a small café. It is next to Shangri-La Hotel. Opposite is the Concorde Hotel. Nearest monorail station is Bukit Nanas.

With combination of high chairs and sofa set, this café is catering more to the office staff of Menara Haw Par.
