Found on the top floor of Suria KLCC Mall, Din Tai Fung stands out eloquently among the neighboring restaurants. It welcomes you with a bustling, authentic Taiwanese ambiance. From the moment you step inside, you're met with the warm aroma of traditional dishes and the gentle hum of conversation in the air. We were promptly greeted by a server at the entrance and shown to our table. Ordering was refreshingly straightforward, a simple form is provided alongside the menu, allowing you to mark your chosen dishes, quantities, and preferred spice level.
To start, I ordered the spicy cucumber, a plate that set the tone beautifully for the meals ahead. The cool and crunchiness of the cucumber balanced with the mild/tingling kick from the chili oil. Flavorful - without being heavy. A perfect starter to chose.
For the next meal, I went with the Shrimp & Chicken Dumplings and the Crab Roe & Chicken Xiao Long Bao, served with a side of julienned ginger. Both dumplings were excellent - each bite packed with deep, rich flavor from the rip. When dipped in a mix of soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil, the flavors intensified and created a harmony that truly stood out. From both sets of food there's a beautiful clash of deep rich flavours that compliment each other very well.
Our main dish was the Shrimp Egg Fried Rice, and it did not disappoint. The rice was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The shrimp were fresh, juicy, and full of flavor, while the egg was lightly scrambled and evenly distributed throughout. All of these components amalgamate into creating a cohesive and satisfying main dish.
What stood out most, however, was the service. Due to what seemed to be a minor kitchen delay, one of my dishes didn’t arrive on time (something completely understandable in a busy restaurant.) The waiter, without hesitation, apologised profusely and offered a complimentary serving of the spicy cucumber. It was a thoughtful gesture that didn’t go unnoticed. That level of attentiveness elevated the entire experience and matched the quality of both the food and...
Read moreI recently visited Din Tai Fung at KLCC with a large group of colleagues from my office for a friend's farewell lunch. Given the restaurant's reputation for great food, we were excited to try it out. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing, primarily due to poor service and long waiting times.
I ordered the Shredded Chicken Egg Fried Rice (Original), while one of my friends ordered the same dish but with the spicy option. We placed our orders at the same time, but despite this, my friend's food arrived promptly, while mine was nowhere to be seen. I waited patiently, expecting it to arrive soon, but as time passed, my food still hadn’t come. Eventually, I had to remind the server about my order. Only then did they start preparing it, which meant I had to wait even longer.
By the time my dish arrived, my friend had nearly finished eating, which really took away from the experience. The waiting time was unbearable, especially considering we were there as a group, and the delay made things feel awkward. It felt like the kitchen was overwhelmed, or perhaps the service staff wasn’t attentive enough to handle larger groups.
To be fair, when my Shredded Chicken Egg Fried Rice finally arrived, the taste was good. The dish was flavorful and well-prepared, living up to the restaurant’s reputation for quality food. However, the long wait and the lack of timely service overshadowed the positive aspects of the meal.
If you're visiting Din Tai Fung purely for the food, you might enjoy it. But if you’re looking for a smooth dining experience, especially if you're short on time or dining with a large group, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The delays were frustrating, and the lack of attentiveness from the staff made it an overall disappointing visit. I hope they improve their service in the future, but based on this experience, I can’t see myself returning...
Read moreMy recent visit to this Chinese restaurant left a lasting impression, earning it a well-deserved four stars in my review. The standout feature of this dining establishment was undoubtedly the exceptional service. From the moment I stepped in, the staff exhibited a level of attentiveness and professionalism that elevated the entire experience. Knowledgeable about the menu, they guided me through the diverse culinary offerings with enthusiasm and a genuine passion for the cuisine.
Adding to the allure of this restaurant was its breathtaking city skyline view. The panoramic scenes created a captivating backdrop, enhancing the overall ambiance and turning the dining experience into a visual feast. Whether it was day or night, the skyline provided a stunning setting, making this place a top choice for those seeking a memorable atmosphere.
On the culinary front, the restaurant showcased a menu rich in flavors and authenticity. Each dish was a masterpiece, with a meticulous presentation that reflected both skill and creativity in the kitchen. From classic favorites to inventive interpretations, the food demonstrated a commitment to quality ingredients and culinary expertise.
However, it's worth noting that the excellence in service and scenic views came with a price tag. The food was undeniably on the pricey side, reflecting the premium experience offered. While the quality justified the cost, it might be a consideration for those on a budget.
In terms of value for money, the exceptional service and unparalleled views did contribute to an overall memorable dining experience. For special occasions or those seeking a luxurious dining adventure, this Chinese restaurant with its stellar service, delectable cuisine, and breathtaking city skyline view stands out as a noteworthy choice, earning it a solid four stars...
