Dining at Dining in the Dark KL was an extraordinary and transformative experience that we won't soon forget. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Changkat Bukit Bintang, this restaurant truly pushes the boundaries of conventional dining. The adventure began with an intriguing pre-dinner game in the lounge. We were served mocktails and tasked with identifying the fruits in the blend. To our surprise, it was far more challenging than anticipated—our senses of taste and smell were already working harder than usual. Following that, we had to sort and fit blocks into their respective shapes and receptacles while blindfolded. This exercise was not only fun but also a great way to prepare us for the sensory journey ahead. Entering the dining area, we had to leave behind any light-emitting devices to ensure complete darkness. The transition was jarring—it’s rare to experience true, pitch-black darkness, even in the comfort of your home. Our visually impaired waiter Marcos, expertly guided us to our table, describing where everything was so we wouldn’t accidentally knock things over. This heightened awareness of our surroundings without sight was both humbling and eye-opening. The meal itself was a four-course mystery menu that changed regularly. Each dish was a surprise, and the absence of sight made every bite an adventure. The flavours seemed more intense, and we found ourselves savouring the textures and aromas more deeply than ever before. We were amazed at how our sense of taste became more pronounced without the visual cues we’re so accustomed to. Throughout the dinner, the staff communicated using soft clicking sounds to avoid collisions, which added to the unique atmosphere. Despite the complete darkness, the service was impeccable—smooth and accident-free. The waiters, who navigate this environment daily, was the guides through the evening, reversing the typical roles and offering a profound glimpse into their world. By the end of the meal, we felt a newfound appreciation for the nuances of taste and the incredible adaptability of the human senses. Dining in the Dark KL offers more than just a meal; it provides a deeper understanding and empathy for the visually impaired while delivering an unforgettable culinary experience. If you're looking for something truly out of the ordinary, we highly recommend trying it. It’s an adventure for your senses and your soul.

Fantastic and unique experience! Have always wanted to give this dining experience a try, why not? Made my booking online with some discount. As you head up to the restaurant, already you get the feel of what's to come, low lighting and calm ambience awaits you and your partner. You will be seated in front of the bar as they prepare you for dinner, they served a virgin aperitif and asked us to guess the ingredients. Next was a blindfold game and then it was time to go in for dinner. Handphones and watches will be kept in a locker, basically anything that reflects or produced light, stored my glasses as well since I'll have no use for it😂 Our servers were visually impaired and would lead us to our table, I thought this was brilliant and proud to support this establishment who employed such servers, if you think about it, who better to guide you than those who live everyday in darkness. I would recommend to dine as a couple because this experience forces you to a different level of intimacy and communication, there were groups and other partners during my experience. There was 1 table with a cantonese speaking aunty which made me feel like I was in a kopitiam. 4 course meal with each meal being a mystery. As you are served each dish, your server will explain and suggest the best way to consume your dish. This is where the fun begins and you have to teach yourself to eat again. The room is completely pitch black and you can't even see your ✋ in front of your face. Guys, if you're coming because of the food and easily irritated for not knowing what you're eating then don't waste your time here. The food actually is delicious but I know some people can't stand or are picky about what they're going to eat. Have heard of an experience where someone was very frustrated spending so much and unable to see if you've finish everything on your plate. Completely enjoyed my time and meal experience, felt like a kid try new foods again. The restaurant changes menu every 3 months and everything was pleasant and exciting for the first time. Definitely will come back to see if the experience could be replicated.

The idea for Dining in the Dark originated from Blindekuh (Blind Cow) Restaurant in Switzerland, where patrons at the restaurant were served by blind and visually impaired people. The Dining In The Dark experience is comprised of two parts. First, I was brought to a bar, where I was introduced to an activity that required me to blindfold myself and use my sense of touch to solve a puzzle. It was tough to be without my sights, but it definitely helped prepare myself for the second part of my dining experience. After about 20 mins, I was requested to place my mobile phone and watch in a locker. My server, who is visually impaired/ blind then led me in choo-shoo train style into a completely dark dining area. We took baby steps and weaved our way around the dining tables. The set meals are served in bite-sized pieces presented in containers of various shapes. I now understand why I had to do the puzzle game at the bar earlier. Fortunately, nothing was scalding hot. The first 15 mins was a rather challenging period as I was not used to the darkness. As time goes by, my instincts started to get better. I can move my hands with more confidence and ease to handle the utensils and bowls. I was also able to eat more comfortably than before. I had spent an entire hour dining at the restaurant. During my time in complete darkness, it actually got me pondering over the life and challenges faced by a visually impaired person. At the end of my meal, I was ushered to the restaurant balcony and offered the menu to relate to the food I had ate earlier. Whilst the meal is not exactly cheap, it is a unique dining experience which I recommend trying it at least once. ⚠️ If you have nyctophobia (fear of darkness), this place may not be suitable for you. However, you can back out after entering it and there is no associated cost with it. 👉🏻 I recommend making a reservation online to secure a seat in the restaurant.

I am not sure why the rating is high. Please read the worst review! The food is completely trashed .I ask my husband to finish it.The different is ,you ate in a dark pitch cupboard.I am not sure why people say the food is good?Seriously..i feel so dissapointed.I have to wait and pass the food to my husband to finish it all.End result ,I am hungry after get out of the cupboard full of noises( half of the dining time) until everyone is out .

I known this place because my sister with her german fiancee recommended it.I think the service towards tourist could be different.I thought there will be different feel when you celebrate your birthday. This is totally waste of time. The experience is not worth it.I make me feel that because the food is not as good so they created this concept .

The game? The staff just ask us to do the game .I will never recommended this to anyone including my oversea friend. It definitely waste of time.

Who can say bad stuff when u dining in?I was completely shocked .Of course people will not say anything. The only thing that is good, they hired visually blind people.

Please do not trust all this rating.I think every individual has the right to give opinions.I will give detail opinions in my social media. So yes..this would be my last visit.

You will be hearing people voices, coughing beside youu (u know the cough in the bathroom with the sound of spitting) .And this is call connection? What connection??What is this ??Removing sight and insert distraction for us feel what? How to fully immerse with all the distraction laa weyy? The arrangement of table is so near .I think another table were attached i check the divider(Joined table).Imagine you are sitting close to some people chatting in a cupboard. You just want to just be done with it.I only feel ok after i hear no one is around. This is by far the worst experience ever.

I just need to get photos because it is my birthday memories. For my birthday ,They just played a birthday song and then call out every name who happen to have the same bday .It is like nothing special which is different from the reviews here.So waste of time.At least if you go to some place,a flower were given to you or some sweet gesture with ribbon thrown when u go out.I dont know.I dont feel the heart warm welcome or any interesting communication from the staff.I just feel that they just read the information then just go with it .Just read2 then settle lah .Nothing much pon.I have to entertained myself with my singging sikit ..my laughing to just sooth my bad experience while in there.

To make my experience worst! The toilet ,not flushed properly,i can see a tiny poops .I went to the toilet after the dinner service, terus stress lagi ,adoilaa.I am not trying to bring this restaurant down. Please checkla.Dahla makan dalam gelap ,keluar tgk taik.

Maybe they only good towards tourist not to people like me or maybe we are not worth to be served in a proper way.

The price is not worth the experience. They brought u in.Give a bit information.Haa u eat lah .Then later bring lagi.Where is the welcoming drink I read? You have to pay extra for the drink .I believed ,the blind thing just to fool you because the food is just mediocre .I just feel very bad and i hope nobody went through the experience that i went .I just feel wasted not special during my birthday.Last conversation, baru tanye ,you are from where since before that too many people chatting

Maybe targeted for tourist .So it could be just one time thing. This is by far the worst the experience .I am lactose intolerant which were inform earlier when booking,i can taste the cream and my dessert is like a cheese cake and my husband did not have that which is very fishy. When the menu reveal(u bacalah sendiri).

In the end ,the front desk staff mention that the cheesecake is not served to me??? Maybe the food is switched.I never imagined getting fooled by the reviews.I will definitely review in my tiktok (eventhough my follower is not many but at least i will try to raise my voice so that other people will not get...
