Went there for lunch. The dim sum buffet is very reasonably priced at under RM30 pp (I think it was RM28 or RM29). But quality and taste is under par. The duck and wantan noodles were alright though. Perhaps you get what you pay for. Other notable mentions:
My colleague saw a rat run across the seat handle of the table next to ours. Definitely not what I expected to see at a fairly stylish and well decorated establishment.
There is a note on the menu that says Opium discourages wastage and you will be charged RM6 for every piece of dim sum you don’t finish. They will follow through with this, as they did with our group. But that is fine because we were clearly warned. What was not fine was when they disallowed us from taking away our leftovers. We were told that we were not allowed to do this. I can understand and support avoiding wastage. But I wanted to pack up my leftovers to finish up at home. Is that so bad? There were also no notices or warnings to say that customers were not allowed to take away leftovers. So I felt like we were trapped into paying the surcharge for our leftovers. That was not a...
Due to your Google review rating which is 4.4 out of 5, i have decided to bring my girlfriend purposely all the way to your restaurant during Christmas eve to have your set lunch Asian Buffet as special celebration. I'm willingly to spend RM50++ per person and expecting 4.4 out of 5 star rating delicious food. Unfortunately the main course we ordered, spicy prawn noodle and Norwegian salmon curry food taste = basic and some of the unlimited steamy bites dim sum taste = like its either frozen and with uniquely chlorine taste. I have had frozen dim sum from supermarket but still so much better. For the crunchy bites taste = basic too. My girlfriend was disappointed with my choice to your restaurant. Both of us was utterly disappointed and regretted not going for another place. If you want to charge people money with so called tasty and quality food please do provide it at least freshly made and not just basic. The 2 star is for your restaurant opium den theme décor and your servers service was ok. There's also some weird damped smell inside where we were...
Read moreA corner restaurant bar along Changkat. The name Old Shanghai is very intriguing, so my friends and I decided to make reservations for dinner. We were late 15-20mins and the nice thing was they held our table for us and remembers and were expecting us! We were shown indoor and my 1st impression is the interior isn’t as impressive as I’d imagine based on the restaurant name “Old Shanghai”. The settings and the bar is nice , not Wow. The food and drinks menu is nice! And I get again ahead of myself. I ordered 50 Shades of Grey as I like Vodka and passion fruit and citrusy drinks and my friends tried the Wind Spirits. I like the names of the cocktails, it’s very interesting. My drink is 👍🏻👍🏻 However the food aren’t impressive… it’s ok , let’s say I would come back for drinks but not for the food. Overall I Like the place, the staffs are friendly and nice, and it’s not as noisy and crazy as other joints...
