Worst experience... happened to pass by this old time favourite which relocated to the other side of Petaling Street. Thought of grabbing some pastries and cookies out of nostalgic about the good old taste...
So I went in to the contemporary designed premise and was approached by a young shop assistant asking what I want. She seems slightly impatient and bit sulky then, was cool with that, came for the pastries after all...
Finished choosing the pastries wanted then proceed to the cashier counter which handled by the same young lady... Her impatience and sulkiness have elevated to another level by now... by showing tantrums on how she handle and packing the pastries in front of the only customer in the shop at that moment...
I wonder what happened to her that spoilt her day and in turn spoiling her customer's day as well. This is the first time seeing a pastries shop assistant handling their edible products like hardware 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Really appreciate the older days whereby "aunties" at the old shop serving their customers with smiles and courtesy. Arh... those were the days...
Maybe I'm old fashion, but being part of the service crew for the shop, I think you should serve with smile and courtesy... customer can feel it despite you are wearing a mask... just as how I felt your impatience and sulkiness...
This is my first patronage to the new shop and also will be the last.
Good luck and cheer up.
p/s: the taste and quality of the so-called traditional biscuit and egg tarts are disastrous, overly sweet... maybe to prolong the shelf life... My humble opinion.. don't waste your...
Read moreRead so many negative reviews but still decided to check this place out myself! Came here last Saturday around 9ish, it was pretty empty but crowd starts pouring in after 10am, so be early if you want to get a seat!
Steam Cha Siu Bao 9/10 (fresh steam, very fluffy & filling is good but just slightly salty to me) Steam Siu Mai 10/10 (the prawn & pork mixture filling is so good, especially the prawn, it's super crunchy & fresh! Highly recommend to order this!) Kaya Swiss Roll 9/10 (yes, you can order just 1 slice. It has strong nice eggy taste, kaya is slightly sweet but it's not like what patrons condemn saying it's too dry! It's still as good as the old ones!) Cham hot 8/10 (not too sweet) Customer Service 10/10 (waiter an old uncle is extremely friendly & polite!) Environment 10/10 (nice, clean & spacious) Price 6/10 (Total bill MYR28.35, it's pricy but worth it)
I remember this place used to be famous among my parents era for wedding cakes & glad they still carry on this biz till today. Traditional bakery is too precious!
I will definitely be back to try others...

🐷 Shanghai Siew Bao (Char siew was sweet, savoury, and mildly smokey, in a buttery crusty pastry. This was our FAVORITE) 🥮 Salted Egg Tart (The lotus paste and salted egg went really well together, they've mastered the sweet-savoury balance.. amazing!) 🥮 Century Egg Tart (This was VERY INTERESTING. There seemed to be a ginger-y note to the century egg and lotus mix. Very unique and is a must try if you're an adventurous diner.) 🍰 Swiss Roll (A buttery, fluffy, ans creamy swiss roll. The attempt on this classic item gets 100pts!) 🥧 Salted Egg Red Bean (The read bean was very aromatic but I preferred the lotus laste because of the smooth buttery texture.) 🥐 Kaya Kok Puff (Authentic Malaysian tea time snack, we loved the rich coconut and pandan flavours. Sooooooo yummy!)
Super enjoyable and a perfect hideout from the KL heat and Chinatown crowd....
