You know the food is good when you come back again within the same week 😂😂😂
Tried the teppanyaki chicken this time and the set was equally good! Felt that the portion this time was better comparatively, perhaps due to the addition of the vegetables.
The chicken thigh was pan-fried perfectly and was juicy and not too dry. Sauce wise, it was just right, not overly salty. Some bits of the cabbages on my set were slightly thicker - would be better if they selected the more 'tender' bits or cut the leaves slightly smaller in size. There were no beansprouts, and the addition of bonito flakes instead was great.
I think I prefer the teppanyaki chicken over the teriyaki set.
And oh, free (Movenpick) ice cream.
Final photos of their upcoming kaiseki menu, which I intend to splurge on.

Newly opened Japanese restaurant near office. Location - adjacent to Sheraton Imperial Hotel. Very good lunch sets - promo of 50% off for the second (cheaper) set, so goooo!
I had the teriyaki chicken set whilst colleague had the salmon teriyaki set. Both came with rice, side salad, pickles, chawan mushi, and miso soup.
Portions wise I felt that it was a bit small compared to other restaurants but it was decent and enough for us. In terms of taste and quality, the sets were comparable to restaurants of similar status, ie Rakuzen type.
Teriyaki chicken was thigh meat and smallish in size. Would have preferred a 'heavier' piece, but oh well, hard to predict sometimes. Meat tasted fresh and does not have the 'frozen' aftertaste. Sauce was just right, not too much, unlike some restaurants where there were too much sauce the dish tasted too salty/sweet overall.
Didn't taste the salmon but colleague mentioned that it was dry (thus slightly overcooked). Size is also slightly smallish but comparable to what other restaurants serve.
Would definitely return if looking for a lunch 'treat' especially for their lunch sets. Those who want to be more indulgent can try their more expensive sets which can range from sashimi to tempura to even...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our dinner with fresh assortment of sushi. I cannot emphasise enough on the freshness of the sushi, every bite was a delight. I love the century egg gravy on the tofu and chawanmushi which I found to be a very interesting take. For a small eater, one Mitsui sushi platter and two small appetiser was enough to fill me up! Overall per pax was about RM250.
We came on a weekday and it was quite empty, perhaps the hype has not picked up yet. The staff were all attentive and friendly too. We checked and they said it is pork free/muslim-friendly but no halal certificate, maybe because alcohol is served. Majority of the staff seems to be Malay if that puts your mind at ease?
I observed that their instagram handle wasn’t even setup yet when the signboard went up awhile back. Naturally I was curious and asked the company background. Ichiu is under the same company that opened Sakana Dining is Suria KLCC which I guess kind of explains why they could take a chance to open here in Faber Towers/Sheraton Imperial. No expenses was sparred in the renovation to make it...

Ichiu Japanese Dining in Kuala Lumpur is a hidden gem for authentic Japanese cuisine! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with a perfect blend of modern elegance and traditional Japanese aesthetics.
The food was absolutely outstanding—each dish was crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients and presented beautifully. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, the sushi was well-balanced with just the right amount of rice. My favorite is was the house special chawanmushi. Some said chawanmushi quality can determine the class of a good Japanese restaurant 😁
Service was impeccable; the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. They even took the time to explain the ingredients and preparation of each dish, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, Ichiu is a must-visit for Japanese food lovers in KL. Whether you’re here for a casual dinner or a special occasion, you’ll leave satisfied and eager to return. Highly...
