Not exactly a hidden gem because if you know Bangsar, you should know this relatively quiet stretch of shop in Lorong Kurau, housing establishments such as cafe, vegetarian restaurant, Nyonya restaurant, gastropub, speakeasy bar, steakhouse, and Italian restaurant.
PODGY used to have an outlet in Sri Hartamas but has since moved to Kurau area in Bangsar. This visit was quite some time ago, so some of the items might or might not be available ya? 🙏🏻
◾Avocado Toast - with poached egg, avocado pulp, avocado slices, chilly flakes on toasted bread. I went for broke with additional smoked salmon on the side and didn't regret my decision. Bit through the egg yolk for a messy eating affair. ◾Grilled cheese sandwich with pickled jalapenos, baby spinach and cabbage carrot salad. One of the few that put jalapenos in the sandwich - I liked it very much! The bread was nicely toasted with salad on the side. ◾Chicken avocado sandwich - tomatoes, cheddar cheese, sauteed onions with tomato salsa on the side. I was in for a surprise to see such generous portion of grilled chicken meat sandwiched in between the bread. ◾Coffee - having tasted their coffee in Sri Hartamas before, I didn't have any doubt on their quality. A cuppa later.. my day has just begun.
This is one happening stretch where parking is extremely limited to be honest, especially during weekends. Most of the time I come here very early...
Read moreThe atmosphere here was beautiful and peaceful; Outside was shaded by trees so it was cooling while the inside was minimalistic. We came here after a light rain and it definitely improved the atmosphere severely.
The blueberry butter cake we had was sweet and fluffy, it wasn’t too oily nor heavy.
The drink I had was Berry Highland, which I assume was inspired by Cameron Highland due to the main ingredient being strawberry, was enjoyable. It wasn’t too sweet and hand plenty of strawberry chunks. It was definitely refreshing.
The waffles were nice too, it was crunchy where it needed to be and chewy on the inside. It had plenty of berries and granola to pair with. Only two critics I have on this are the ice cream and the blueberries. The ice cream was too sweet to finish with an already sweet dessert, while the blueberries were definitely not fresh because it was squishy and dried up.
Lastly the pasta dish. It was okay, nothing too out of the ordinary. Just alright as it is.
The service was good. They were patient while taking our order and served our food periodically. There were also jugs of water we could take to our...
Read moreI came here a few times and decided to review it because it is definitely a place worth sharing. Located in a quiet secluded neighborhood but bustling with foodie because of the abundance of hidden gem good food here.
I've tried all their pasta - shrimp curry spaghetti, aglio olio and butter chicken. All fusion with Asian taste and local ingredients, always accompanied with a little twist and surprises, like the crunchy refreshing cucumber strings, or fried mihun strips spread on top. Their dishes are definitely tantalizing and inviting your appetite. The salad was served in generous portion, fine without bad surprises. The red velvet cheesecake was ok too!
I've returned to this place many times and will continue to do so....
