Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) / Lalaport is easily one of the Klang Valleyâs most underrated attractions.
To truly appreciate what it has to offer, you have to experience it firsthand. Itâs a place meant to be explored, a space to immerse yourself in - where hidden gems reveal themselves by serendipity.
With so many components to discover, a quick visit simply wonât do it justice.
One of the highlights? Gourmet Street, which transforms into a mesmerizing sight as night falls, when colourful lights come alive.
It was here that we stumbled upon Wagyu and Rice, a tiny yet inviting Japanese eatery - their second outlet in KL, the other being at Avenue K.
With only ten seats at the grill, the restaurant offers an intimate dining experience where you can watch the chefs work their magic right before your eyes.
Hereâs what we ordered:
Wagyu Hamburg (RM20.80) â Grilled to near perfection, tender and juicy.
Gyu Suji Daikon (RM16.80) - Braised till melt-in-the-mouth, till flavours fully infused.
Gyu Kushi Ball (RM16.80) - Tasty and well-seasoned.
Short Plate (RM23.80) - Juicy but slightly lacking in depth of flavour and texture.
Dining here is as much about the experience as it is about the food. Watching the chefs skillfully prepare each dish in the teppan-style kitchen, surrounded by the warm, homey atmosphere, made for a truly enjoyable meal.
Note: This review is based on a visit in late February 2025.
Would we return? Absolutely! But with so many other tempting restaurants and cafés along the Street calling, it'll be a hard...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to dine at Wagyu and Rice located in Lalaport Kuala Lumpur. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience with a focus on high-quality Wagyu beef. We ordered a few of their signature dishes: the Wagyu Hamburg with foie gras and rice, the Wagyu Hamburg with rice and egg yolk, and for my son, a plain Wagyu Hamburg with Japanese rice. While the flavors were rich and enjoyable, I couldnât help but feel that the portions were somewhat small, particularly with the Wagyu hamburgers weighing only 100 grams each.
The ambience of the restaurant was really nice, creating a cozy and intimate setting. However, the space is quite limited, with the counter seating only accommodating a small number of guests. This might be a consideration for larger groups or those looking for a more spacious dining area. On the other hand, the service was very good. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. One aspect that left me a bit disappointed was the price. While the quality of the ingredients was undoubtedly high, I felt that the overall cost was a bit steep, especially considering the portion sizes. For the price, I would have expected more substantial servings.
Overall, Wagyu and Rice offers a unique culinary experience with excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere. However, the small portions and higher price point might deter some diners. If youâre a fan of Wagyu beef and are looking for a special treat, this might still be...
Read moreFound this place on tiktok on my last day in Malaysia. And in summary I can say I definitely will return.
Food - I had the Gyu Hamburg Set (picture attached). It simply is one of the best hamburg I have eaten. Its perfectly seasoned and very juicy. The sauce they offer have variation and you can play with all the combinations. For me the best is the Homemade Apple Su Sauce. The tangy, sweet flavour brings out a perfect combination with the meat juice. I like to add a little bit wasabi paste / mustard to bring out some experience. The only downside is I didnt get the Double Gyu Hamburg set! I need moar! But yeah my stomach is half full at that time. So...next time.
Service - one of the most friendly staff I meet on my trip to Malaysia. As to my experiences through the whole trip, staff are sometimes too "sassy". But here they are kind and paying attention to our need. Ocha filled out without me asking. Feel like a premium service reflecting the price. Very worth it.
Atmosphere - very premium exclusive japanese style type of feeling as there are limited seats and display of chefs preparing our food. Though maybe they can add more decorations in the inner part to boost the japanese feel more. But if not its also fine.
Overall will comeback. And...
