Poolhouse at Grand Hyatt KL – Fun & Flames BBQ Iftar
For a truly special BBQ iftar experience, Poolhouse at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur delivered an unforgettable evening of grilled delights, fresh flavors, and a vibrant open-air setting. Nestled by the hotel’s stunning poolside, this semi-buffet dining experience combines a laid-back atmosphere with exquisite dishes, making it a perfect choice for a weekend feast.
The "Fun & Flames BBQ" concept is all about interactive, live-fire grilling, featuring an array of fresh seafood, premium meats, and bold flavors. From slow-cooked whole lamb leg with a spicy herb rub to grilled salmon steak with dill and lemon, every dish was crafted with attention to quality and taste. The skewer section was a highlight, with shell-on prawns, Korean grilled chicken, and tofu with ginger miso glaze, all expertly grilled to perfection.
We started with a variety of appetizers including smokey eggplant baba ghanoush, seabass ceviche, and beef brisket bitterballen, setting the tone for an indulgent meal. The side tray & sauces complemented the mains beautifully, featuring signature house-made sauces like Korean BBQ, sriracha aioli, and salsa verde.
For dessert, the sweets station was a delightful surprise, offering everything from strawberry basil mousse to yuzu cheesecake and matcha coffee opera. The sugar-free ice cream and sorbet options were a refreshing end to the meal, with flavors like mango passion fruit, keto coconut, and blueberry cream cheese.
Beyond the food, what truly stood out was the ambiance—dining under the stars, surrounded by the tranquil greenery and poolside reflections, made the entire experience even more magical. The venue’s glasshouse setting and alfresco terrace provided an elegant yet relaxed environment, perfect for iftar gatherings, weekend celebrations, or even casual get-togethers.

We decided to order two wagyu burgers since they seemed like a specialty, based on what the waiter told us, but both were undercooked. I requested my burger to be well-done, but when it was returned, it was essentially the same—just slightly toasted. The patty was still not cooked to my liking, which was very disappointing, especially for such an expensive dish.

Given how high-end the hotel is, I expected far better service and food quality. Sadly, I won’t be dining here again and wouldn’t recommend it for anyone looking for...
