A restaurant that I’ve been wanting to try for several years and finally found an opportunity. Overall the food was decent, although a bit heavy on salt.
Signature Steamed Fish head had a minced ginger sauce and crispy fried shallots. These lent a nice aroma to the steamed fish head. Unfortunately the fish had a somewhat muddy smell. Sweet sour pork was decent with crispy fried minced pork balls in a sweet and sour sauce. I would have preferred a little more tanginess from vinegar or pineapple in this dish. Claypot eggplant with pork belly and salted fish was somewhat salty as expected but it paired nicely with rice. This is Recommended if you don’t have intolerance to salt. The sambal in the stir fried French beans was quite spicy but a little too salty. Again it paired well with plain rice. The beans were not overcooked and retained a nice crunch. The Signature Taufoo was a blend of taufoo with fish/seafood? Crispy outside and creamy inside. This is Recommended.
The restaurant is crowded at lunchtime so it’s not a place to linger and chat. Prices...
Read moreThere was a male customer in his 50s accompanied by a female in spectacles and a younger male in his 30s, all Chinese. We were queueing behind him. When a table has been allocated to them, there is another empty table which we thought we can finally eat in peace under the fan. Once we sat I made the order for my partner. Less than few minutes later we were asked by a young male staff to vacate our table and move to the table nearby the kitchen, so the male customer in his 50s ala Datuk wannabe dressing can host his friends at that table. By the time we finished our meals consisting of a steamed fish, a dry fried vegetables, two plates of rice and two cups of Chinese herbal teas, our 'Datuk''s entourage came to sit at the table we gracefully vacated for them.
I will definitely go again to dine there. My name is easy to...
Read moreI would say this place served one of the best steamed fish in KL. There are many type of cooking styles, like soya sauce steam, ginger, garlic ,curry and many others. The reason I love the steamed fish here is because of the ingredients and the wine used to cook are of good qualities one. Hence, it made the serving very delicious. Furthermore, the fish is very fresh. The fish used is soong fish or Asian Carp fish, like most other steamed fish in KL. They also serve side dishes iike sambai petai, tofu, pork and chicken dishes. It is not air-conditioned, but it is comfortable and cooling dining here. Service is good and the place is clean. Price is reasonable too. Parking can be difficult ,especially during weekdays. Try to come early by 11am at weekend. Business hours, from 10am to 3pm, 6pm to 9.30pm....
