I recently visited this restaurant for the first time, and unfortunately, it’s unlikely I will return. Let me explain why in a bit more detail.

To start, parking is convenient, with plenty of spots available right in front of the restaurant.

Upon entering, you pass by an appealing display of various proteins and dishes—beautifully presented and quite tempting. The restaurant itself has a bright, clean, and spacious environment, which creates a comfortable atmosphere.

The menu offers a wide variety of options, including pork, chicken, duck, seafood, and many side dishes. One highlight worth mentioning is the complimentary soup. While it’s free and refillable, it doesn’t compromise on quality—it’s quite decent, and I found it pleasantly surprising.

However, the main disappointment lies in the food and service. The braised meats, for example, are rather ordinary. Of course, pricing is subjective, but I didn’t feel the value matched the cost.

The most significant issue, though, was the service. Despite having many staff members on duty, they seemed disengaged—some were chatting amongst themselves or using their phones. Unfortunately, this gave an impression of indifference. In an industry as competitive as this, service plays a crucial role in the dining experience, and the lack of attentiveness and professionalism here was off-putting.

I genuinely hope the restaurant can improve in these areas because, with the current food quality and service standards, it may struggle to stand out. There’s a lot of potential, but much work is needed to elevate the experience and succeed in such a competitive market.

I wish the best for the management and hope they take the opportunity to address these issues.

*Please note that this review is based on my personal taste and preferences, and it may not reflect the opinions of others. Dining experiences are subjective, and what may not work for me could very well be enjoyable for...

100% not-halal post - good braised pork!

Arrived just in time when they opened for business at 11.00am after finishing some work in Jalan Ampang. I couldn't possibly miss the opportunity to try this famous braised pork restaurant in town that has got viral recently. Apart from pork, they also serve braised duck and chicken.. even foie gras!

No air-conditioning and it can get pretty warm when the sun is above the head. Spotted a familiar face plastered on the wall and confirmed that the boss is the same person behind IWC Aquastic in Kuchai Lama. Heck their tissue box also bears the name IWC. We came in a group of 4 so couldn't order much.

◾Signature Braised Pork Trotter RM19.80 per portion. Whole knuckle cost RM89.00 (2kg++) but we couldn't possibly finish it. It comes with a bowl of salted vegetable. Gotta love the braised sauce - flavourful but not too thick nor strong - just nice that even the elderly heaped praise to it. ◾Pork Feet RM13.80 - for those who love sucking the meat and tendon off, slightly gamy at certain parts though. ◾Salted Egg Meat Ball RM7.80 per piece - loved it so much that I ordered a second helping. The savoury salted egg yolk in the center of the 'lion head' meatball made the difference. ◾Tendon RM34.80 is limited and command premium price for this collagen-rich part. ◾Large Intestine Head RM14.80 - had a bit as I am not a big fan of spare parts! ◾Large Intestine Tail RM12.80 ◾Free soup of the day for everyone!

Note: Fancy something special? Not contented with regular braised pork trotter? Go for their Flaming Pork Knuckle with Truffle Sauce, and add abalone for that novelty factor.. at a price of course. Also roast goose lion head for a princely sum of RM588 (pre-order) 😁

Portion a bit small for the price paid, but considered cheaper compared to eating BKT. Their chilly sauce is similar to Thai style but might over power the taste...

A restaurant on Jalan Gelang featuring various braised meats. We were drawn by the pork trotter rice. It’s an open restaurant which can get warm in the afternoons, but there was a nice breeze while we were there so it was still bearable. Service is fast and food arrived pretty quickly too.

The Braised Pork Trotter Rice came with a decent amount of pork trotter, braised peanuts, half an egg, two slices of pork spring roll and some pickled vegetables served on a bowl of scallion rice. The skin and fat of the trotter was melt in your mouth but the inner meat was still a little chewy and bit dry. Perhaps it could be cooked a little longer? The braised peanuts would similarly have benefited from a little more cooking time. The pork spring roll and pickled vegetables were ok. The free soup served on the side was good. I think the food was MSG free as I did not feel thirsty or start sweating as what happens when it’s present.

On a return visit, we had the Dong Po Yoke, Braised Nine Turn Intestines, Braised Pork Trotter, Steamed Chicken, Salted Egg Minced Pork Ball, Tofu and Scalded Green Vegetable. All were pretty good with maybe only the intestines being a little soft for cooking too long perhaps.

Overall it was a pretty decent meal although they are still quite far from the best in Pudu area. Some areas for improvement in terms of taste and cooking time of...
