Is it me or has there been an explosion of food places that offer Ipoh food? This unassuming place buzzes with activity. Diners waiting for tables, food being served, diners leaving. We got our table after a short wait.
Food came fast - we ordered 1/2 a chicken, kai si hor fun, tau geh, braised pork and tofu and fruit rojak (different operator?). The star of the lunch was undoubtedly the kai si hor fun. Besides the essential hor fun, the full-bodied broth had prawn oil and the right condiments; the prawns were small but were juicy and sweet. Tau geh was still crunchy and drenched with a soy-sauce based sauce that was not overly salty. The 1/2 chicken was a huge portion as their chickens were big brioiler chickens. I personally prefer the bitey choi yin kai but most people would not mind this smooth, tender chicken. The rice was fragrant and delicious.
The braised pork and tofu was average. I will also skip the vey average fruit rojak which lacks prawn paste.
It can get very hot dining here as the roof looked like a zinc roof. Service was brisk but they could do better with a queueing system based on numbers. At peak times, don't be surprised with customers standing behind you as you dine as they eye your table.
One of my favourite kai si hor fun places in the Klang Valley. Soon there will no need to balik kampung to get my ipoh food fix. The ngar choy kai served in the touristy parts of Ipoh is...
Read moreEvery once in a while, we come across some food place/restaurant/stall that just INFURIATES you no end. We ordered Kai See Hor Fun, which was supposed to be signature, some fish balls and a plate of chicken. Guess what.....only the Hor Fun came. Nothing else. Ok so we walked back to the man with the cleaver who took our orders in the first place. "Ohhhh! i will send it over shortly" We waited and waited but the fish balls and chicken NEVER CAME!!! ....even after 2 RENINDERS!...so we decided we had enough ... just finish our hor fun and leave. The lady didn't even hv the courtesy to make any feeble apology when we paid for the hor fun.....even after i commented our balance food orders didnt come.
ARROGANCE is really unappetising!!! Take heed that your arrogance will cost you customers in due course. If you are old and forgetful, please for heaven's sake have a better system to write orders on paper. If you forget orders, at least make a feeble apology. If you can't be bothered about serving your customers....go home and rest-sleep and hibernate with a butt plug!!!
I really dont feel like posting any photo, but to prove i was there and faced this unpleasant experience....i will do one. To be fair the Kai See Hor Fun was reasonably good with the broth ...tasty. But the unpleasant experience made the...

Overrated. Overpriced. Don't be conned by the reviews or whoever posts on social media. With this price, we can get a decent one at a kopitiam and not a roadside stall. It is very hot when dining in. Takeaway has extra charges with just normal plastic packaging. When we intended to find out more from the lady boss, she behaved super rudely. She stared at us and refused to answer. My friend continued asking, and she only answered then.
With this price and extra charges for normal plastic packaging, it is a bit too much. So, are you operating your business at zero cost? Is everything counted on the customer?
Don't forget, customers are your source of income no matter how much they spend. Learn to answer questions nicely. Don't behave like a pasar malam Karen. Kids do better than her.
I strongly believe that what goes around comes around. Someday, I am sure you will receive a lesson from others for your rude attitude. You will need to pay the cost on what you have done.
Hope her daughter who gona take over her business don't behave like her...
