First of all, I agree that chicken should not go with prawn mee. If it is pork ribs or sliced pork, it is still acceptable but definitely not chicken. Oh no, no way. This is not curry noodle, OK? Also, offering a bowl of fish balls and wanton to go with prawn mee is absolutely ridiculous. So just ask for plain prawn mee without any extra toppings (remember to reject any offer to add chicken meat).
2 bowls of prawn mee (1 bowl with extra prawns) and a bowl of fish balls/wanton will set you back RM48. A glass of ice Chinese tea and 3-in-1 white coffee will incur another RM4. Way too expensive for a simple lunch.
Asked for kopi C kosong not available. Instead being offered white coffee but it is white coffee 3-in-1. This is a minus point. The other minus is parking. Previously there is an empty vacant lot opposite but somehow it is being turned into a building, so it has to be roadside free parking (until you receive a summons from either DBKL or Traffic Police. Maybe it is worthwhile to take the LRT and walk across the road. Hassle free and no...
Read moreThe Prawn and Chicken Noodle was good, but maybe fell short of our expectation. The prawn gravy was somewhat watery and maybe a tad too spicy, covering the prawn flavour. Not sure if it was their off day or whether the broth is meant to be like that. When asked, we were told that it would be better to add the big prawns gravy. Hmmmm. The prawns were decent but not the freshest but the chicken was moist and tasty.
The standout was the pork ball and meat dumpling soup. I’d gladly return to have this instead of the prawn noodles. The soup had a good flavour from preserved vegetables and spring onions. Highly Recommended.
Also Recommended are the Mixed Chicken Platter which had chicken gizzards, chicken feet (deboned) blanched jellyfish on some bean sprouts . Great as a side dish.
The Grass Jelly drink was cool and refreshing and had hand cut grass jelly squares in it.
I’d return for the meatball soup, lam mee and...
Read moreCame here because the kai si hor fun up the road had run out of food before 1pm on a Sunday! No regrets I have to say.
Despite the stall having its own spin on the hokkien prawn mee - it came with fresh prawns (rather than the Penang ones that had a tougher texture) and chopped chicken pieces - the broth was unmistakingly Penang style. It was rich and bursting with prawn flavours. I actually ate it without the chilli paste which is good too. RM10 for this big bowl of noodles is very reasonable. We also ordered a side of fish balls and wantans (flying saucers) which were excellent too. The lady who took our orders was extremely pleasant and friendly. The staff worked with this eery zen calmness - no drama, no shouting of orders, etc. The only negative is the place could do with a little makeover. Owner told us they started selling in...
