I first heard of this place as one of the best nasi kandar in KL and unsurprisingly, the reviews here are rather solid. I finally dropped by today to confirm for myself if the food quality lives up to the impressive rating. Firstly, the interior was nothing fancy and resembled an almost bare looking lot. This wasn't a deal breaker of course but it could certainly make use of some well needed refurbishment in my opinion. Having said this, I believe they opened a new lot just opposite with nicer decor. As this was my first time experiencing the food here, I ordered a plate of rice with a good variety of dishes such as telor dadar, kobis bunga, ayam bawang, ayam madu and daging kicap. I requested for kuah banjir like I always do at nasi kandar restaurants. The mix of curries or kuah blended together harmoniously. The aromatics were fragrant and the spices were not overly done. The appetising tang as well as sweetness from the kuah madu and kuah bawang brought that extra dimensions of taste to round off the savoury elements. The ayam bawang was not too dry and so was the ayam madu. I felt the ayam bawang successfully captured the quintessential taste of the dish. The marination and seasoning was present throughout the chicken albeit not overly powering. The ayam madu turned out to be a decent rendition here too. The kobis bunga sadly was a little too salty and I was not fond of the telor dadar because it was not the fluffy type. One dish that stood out was their daging kicap. I was pleased with the tenderness of the meat and the taste immediately hits the perfect spot. Unlike most daging I had at nasi kandar stalls, the gravy here seemed to be more refined which offered a lusher texture without sacrificing on its intensity and richness. In summary, this nasi kandar did not entirely win me over as the best in KL but it would be a shame to simply give them a hard pass. I'd still recommend to give them a try if you happen to be...

Since its inception in 1969, this nasi kandar gem has won the hearts of locals with its irresistible flavors. The food, bursting with rich and spicy notes, is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. The perpetual queue speaks volumes about its popularity, and the patience expended is unequivocally justified by the sublime taste.
Timing is of the essence here, and an early visit before noon promises a more comfortable dining experience, avoiding the overwhelming lunch rush. The fair pricing and ample portions add to the appeal, ensuring a satiating meal that doesn't break the bank.
The restaurant's ambiance is a humble testament to its history, creating an atmosphere that exudes nostalgia and authenticity. Having experienced the occasional lackluster roti canai mornings, I'd advise sticking to their legendary nasi kandar. This dish is where their prowess truly shines, leaving no room for disappointment.
Restoran Kudu's legacy is etched into its culinary finesse and historical significance. As I plan to revisit, it's clear that their nasi kandar will remain my preferred choice, a flavorful journey through...
ย ย ย Read moreNothing to shout about and the food is totally out compared to his grandfather's food years ago! I took the opportunity to revisit this place after many many years and after having my lunch, I am very disappointed both in the quality and service. The curry fish was over cooked until the flesh has harden like a stone and tasted so bland! The mixed curry gravy is hopelessly made out of powdered ready made powder! Nothing tastes the original way compared to what I have experienced before! If this is the quality you people are bothered to line up in long lines waiting to be served, I wonder if you have really tasted what an original nadi kandar use to taste like under Kudu Bin Abdul' original cooking 25 to 30 years ago! A simple mistake was I was served with cold and overcooked fish promfret in curry. That was not the way it was originally served. The curry is totally out, both in terms of taste and quality. There seems to be every wrong about the place except the shop and a few original furnishings remaining! Nope! It not worth my...
