The image that came to my mind when I was craving for ring road noodle is a bowl of bihun topped with thick soy sauce, handsome amount of parsley, and deep fried pork lard. That's also the image that impressed me when I first discovered this restaurant on social media
It's not an image that I can easily get out of my head as the reminiscing tastes will follow. That is probably why I keep coming back
When I bite into the crunchy deep fried pork lards mixed with the parsley, the faint crispy sounds play in my mouth, the lard and parsley start to mix with the saliva after a few bites, a robust aroma and fantastic tastes then are released and filled my mouth. That's what I missed - the mixture of sinfully awesome deep fried pork lard with parsley in the mouth!
The soup is not perfectly clear but full of umami with a notable hint of Chinese wine which, to me, is a perfect warm-me-up dish in the morning
The amount of garoupa fish served is generous, or should I say, commensurate with the slightly higher price? I purposely put the fish cutlets on top of the noodle and took a photo to prove my point
I always go for the dry version. I think the experience is multi-faceted and richer compared to the soup version
The amount of parsley given is noticeably lesser compared to my earlier visits though, and the amount of fresh scallion is now more than parsley : /
Not a complaint, as I understand it must be a hard decision to make when the costs keep increasing
The bah kut teh restaurant in Kepong that I patronize quite frequently used to serve gorgeous amounts of parsley has adopted the same measure long before this
It's perhaps more of a depressing realisation that the days one can eat parsley to his heart's content (in a...

So, today was a surprise visit after my wife answered "don't know what to eat". So, there I noticed there are new stalls at the other end of the row and all we packed with customers.
Found a table under the tree, nice and breezy. Order a chicken rice and added a roast duck leg. Then to the noodles to order a bowl but was told this and that had finished. It was just half past eleven! So ended up with groupa fish head.
Chicken rice was fantastic, rice fluffy and fragrant, chicken was nice and comes with chilli dip with ginger.
Then came the bowl of noodles. I, err, we err...found it not as what was expected. It wasn't as tasty as I remembered. The soup was rather bland or my taste had "evolved". The few pieces of fish was fresh but I dropped the piece with most meat. Wooohooo...
But still, many people kept...
Read moreThis is a coffee shop with several stalls inside. The chicken rice and roast meat stall is pretty popular at lunch time, while a steamed fish head stall is popular at night. From breakfast to lunch time however, the fish and seafood noodle stall gets most of the customers.
Offering fish paste, fishballs, prawns, fish head and fresh fish options, you can have your noodles (yellow noodles, bihun, kway teow and a few others) in soup or dry 'kon lo' style. Several types of fish are available but I would Recommend you to go for the Garoupa fish option, which will give a clean and sweet tasting soup. Their fish is always fresh with firm flesh. This is Highly Recommended.
On a recent visit, I tried their Pork Noodles. It comes with minced pork, sliced pork, slices of liver, some pieces of intestines and topped with fried shallots and pork lard for a good aroma. Quite good, but not the best in...
