Super worth it! Big portion sandwich + fries + latte this set at VCR TRX really blew me away!
Tried out VCR TRX, a café highly recommended by a friend, and I was genuinely surprised by how generous the portions were for such an affordable price. Best part? The food actually tastes pretty good too!
Hereâs what the set includes: đ„Ș A huge sandwich đ A âmountainâ of fries â A large cup of latte (honestly bigger than most cafĂ©s!)
Letâs start with the sandwich: I was shocked when it arrived â the portion was massive! They didnât skimp on the chicken at all â thick, chunky pieces packed inside. Every bite felt super satisfying. The bread was nicely toasted (crispy outside, soft inside), paired with fresh lettuce and just the right amount of sauce. Flavorful, but not overwhelming.
Now, the fries â total respect! At first glance, I thought the portion was small. But once poured out⊠it was literally a little mountain! Loved that they kept the potato skin on â it added a nice rustic touch. Crispy outside, soft inside. I couldnât stop eating them!
As for the latte: Definitely larger than your average café size. The latte art was decent, and the taste was smooth and balanced. very drinkable and satisfying.
Service was another big plus! The staff were all super friendly and attentive, constantly checking in with smiles, refilling our water, and making sure we were comfortable. I genuinely felt well taken care of, which made the meal even more enjoyable.
This set is a total value-for-money deal at VCR TRX. Great for a filling solo meal, or even to share between two.
Will definitely...
Read moreWe really love VCR at Hang Tuah, so we wanted to try the TRX branch. But they have it totally mismanaged here.
There are two entrances to the restaurant, both with a sign saying âPlease wait to be seated.â I even went to ask if we should actually wait, and they confirmed it. (because we waited there for a few minutes) But after about ten more minutes of standing there with no one coming, multiple people just ignored the sign and got ahead of us. When we finally asked to be seated after complain, they had trouble finding us a table. Because guess what? The tables were taken by people who had cut in line and ignored the sign.
You order through an app by scanning a QR code, and payment is possible via the app. However, since they donât support Apple Pay and Iâd have to manually enter my card details, I opted to pay at the counterâonly to find out their card terminal wasnât working.
I personally would have left, but my wife was hungry and wanted coffee, so we stayed.
They told us theyâd prepare our order and we could pay later âŠwith card. After a while, they came back and asked if we could pay in cash or via the app since the terminal was still down (rush rush rush). But when we tried to pay through the app, our bill was no longer there. They spent another 20 minutes trying to sort it out until they finally got the card terminal working.
The only thing we got from them for the whole experience was a âsorry.â
The food was relatively good, the coffee they spilled when arrived only came after my wife had already finished her sandwich⊠so overallâŠ...
Read moreMy experience here was not pleasant at first. The staff were unfriendly and reluctant to assist when my phone couldnât scan the QR code to place an order. The ordering system is inconvenientâyou have to pay before receiving your meal, and adding additional items later is a hassle. It was frustrating enough that I almost walked away, but I decided to be patient and give it a try. Eventually, one staff member helped take my order, and I paid in cash on the spot.
The environment isnât ideal for chatting with friends, as the music is too loud and the seating is uncomfortable. It feels more suited for a quick coffee and sandwich rather than a relaxed dining experience. The air conditioning was also weak, making it uncomfortably warm, especially since the shop faces direct sunlight.
One positive moment was when a staff member noticed that I liked their salads and generously refilled them for me multiple times. I appreciated the gesture and tipped him, which was the only satisfying part of my visit.
Unfortunately, the food didnât make up for the experience. The coffee, matcha latte, and sandwiches were all below average, nothing special.
I donât mind paying a slightly higher price for a small cup of drink, and we even ended up ordering several. However, given the overall disappointing experience, it was not worth it at all.
I wonât be returning, as the ordering and payment system is frustratingâyouâre expected to handle almost everything yourself, yet still have to pay a...
