We almost wanted to go to Siang Chiang but a local friend recommended us to try this kopitiam instead. Old school kopitiam run by lady bosses! The kopi here is very good, it is smooth, not too bitter and definitely not sour. Also not too sweet (you know how some places can go to town with the condensed milk). The soft boiled eggs were good too. I would reorder these two items.
If you’re in the area can give it a try, although the food options are limited. The kaya toast and polo bun were ok. Nasi lemak ok. Nyonya kueh too doughy. The place is tidy and clean. We didn’t use their toilet so can’t comment.
Service is good. As we’re leaving we stood outside the cafe a minute or so trying to get our bearings and see how to get to the next cafe on Google Map. One of the lady bosses approached us and asked us where we’re heading and verbally directed us on how to get there, which is very kind and nice of her. The 5th star is for...
Read moreThis cafe has a variety of food on their menu. They not only sell a myriad of bread items like tradional toast, croissant, polo bun, tea, kopi etc but they also sell small packet items like nasi lemak, economy mi goreng, kuihs. However, by the time we reached the cafe, most of the kuihs were already sold out (they open ard 8:30 but we reached at 9). To those who are planning to visit, we strongly advice you reach early.
We ordered the polo bun mayo egg, kaya butter toast, fried mee, nasi lemak, cai kuih, hard-boiled egg, tea and kopi. My fav was the kaya butter toast, tea and cai kuih. The kaya butter toast is really traditional and the cai kuih was really good! The polo bun was slightly dry (mayb polo bun + egg mayo is a weird combination😅), the hard-boiled egg was hot. Nasi lemak and mi goreng were average. Took about 15 mins for the food to be served.
The cafe also had a really nice...
Read moreDecent traditional breakfast at this shop run by cute aunties! Tried the roti kahwin with soft boiled eggs (RM 6.90). Nothing special, but good enough to fuel up for the day. There were broken egg shells in my dish. I think the main draw is the atmosphere - old school vibes, old marble slabs on wooden tables with rickety wooden stools.
I had two issues - 1. Be warned if you need the toilet. The level of hygiene is not for everyone. If it's urgent, don't look and inspect, the more you do the more you'll be scarred. Just do what you need to do and run back. 2. My husband and I had the runs in the afternoon, and the eggs and toast were the only things we had that day.
Saw that it gets quite packed but went there at 9am (on a tuesday) and we were the only customers there. Could have been during...
