⏳ Waiting Time

We waited a painful 60–90 minutes just to see the first dishes—Kailan Ikan Masin and Lala—show up. By then we were already starving and frustrated.

🍽️ What We Ordered • Kailan Ikan Masin – just okay, nothing memorable. • Lala – the broth tasted sandy, which is a giant 🚩🚩🚩. • Ikan Bakar Sambal Hijau & Portuguese (2 portions) Never got to taste them. We walked away when we realised we wasted 90 minutes for low-mediocore grade food • Sotong Goreng Tepung - same like ikan bakar case

Nothing here justified the wait.

🍚 White Rice Fiasco

We honestly thought that after ordering all our dishes and stating our number of diners, white rice would automatically be served—because that’s standard everywhere else. Nope. We were “supposed” to order it separately through a QR code (fine, our oversight).

But when we asked—politely—if it would take long for the rice to arrive, the server flatly replied:

“Yes, the queue is long.”

A queue… for plain white rice??? White rice that every single table in the restaurant obviously eats??? Please la 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

😡 Customer Service

Easily the worst I’ve experienced anywhere. Every server, including the cashier, acted like we were invisible. When I tried to share feedback, they literally turned their backs and walked away. Zero sense of hospitality. The cashier in particular was unbelievably rude—no basic courtesy, no apology, nothing.

Yes, the view is nice. But guess what? You can get the exact same scenery at countless other places that actually treat customers with respect and serve food worth eating.

Skip this place. Don’t even bother walking near it. There are plenty of restaurants with great views, tasty food, and staff who won’t ruin your evening. Tourists, you’ve...

Positive: ✅ Calm atmosphere with a beautiful riverside view. You can enjoy your meal while watching boats pass by — very relaxing setting.

Negative: ❌ Waiting time – Unacceptable! I ordered at 8:40 PM, but the food only arrived at 10:00 PM — a 1 hour and 20 minute wait! While I understand it was a peak period during the school holidays, the response from the on-duty supervisor was very disappointing. Instead of acknowledging the issue, they simply told us to wait, with no apology or proper communication.

❌ Food quality & presentation:

Ikan Pari Bakar Set & Sotong Bakar (add-on):

Portion size: Very small and not worth the price. (See attached photo)

Taste: The squid was tasty, but the stingray was tough and overcooked.

Despite the delay, the food arrived cold, which defeats the purpose of being “freshly cooked.”

The set was supposed to include an omelette — it never arrived, even after we finished eating!

❌ Price – Overpriced for what you get. We paid RM160 and were left disappointed. (See attached receipt.)

❌ Service – Poor customer service. The supervisor lacked empathy and proper communication skills. Yes, we were given a RM10 discount, but that doesn’t make up for the bad experience. Better food management, service, and professionalism are more important than a small discount.

Honest Review for Papayun

The signature sauce at Papayun is truly delicious, and the seafood is fresh , no complaints there. What really disappointed me was the extremely slow service. Waiting 1 hour for grilled squid to arrive at the table is just unacceptable! 🤦🏻‍♂️

When I asked the staff (the one who took my order) to check on the squid , whether it was being grilled or still swimming in the ocean 😅 I was told it was already cooked, but deep fried, not grilled! Now, I honestly didn’t mind if it was fried instead of grilled. But making us wait a whole hour for it? That’s the real problem.

We ordered the regular (or standard?) shell out set for 3 pax , I honestly can’t remember exactly , but we had already finished eating the shell out, and the rest of the order still hadn’t arrived. On top of that, they mistakenly sent double orders of the shell out and drinks to our table. I assume this was due to a system error, so I didn’t make a fuss over that.

But the service was extremely slow.

That being said, I truly appreciate the professionalism of the male cashier on duty that night (sorry I didn’t get his name). He handled my frustration calmly and respectfully, and even gave us a 15% discount due to the delays and missing items. Thank you for that. really appreciated it
