Located in busy nightlife district in Miri, Ming Cafe is a legendary fixture of Miri and almost go to places for tourist, cafe is a rather loose term since they are more of a bar and pub at night.
They don't have direct parking spaces and you had to park your vehicles and walk to the premises, during the day they do function as a quiet cafe and bar, while you can have lunch and drink. They offered Asian and Western food/snacks and very complete selection of liquors, they have open non smoking area and closed AC room.
At night however the place turn into wild club, with almost full table and live dj music, they also often had themed night and promotion, you just need to ask the waiter for the prmotion, they still served food all night as well. Mind you that the place can get little rowdy with tight space and a lot of drunk people. They still serves good drink though, also they had excellent range of souvenirs to take home with you. Like many crowded places, the toilet can be quite smelly and full of drunk people.
Overall this place is good if you like nightlife and party, but in the day this place also...
Read moreSince it's starting to rain we just hop across our hotel for a quick dinner. Loud music greeted us. We sat on a long and big tree trunk table and benches. The waiter immediately appeared with the menu and waited patiently for us to place our order. 2 beers and 1 watermelon for drinks. A Gordon blue chicken, sausage mash and bacon burger. My partner finished the burger and my junior finished her burger. Must be good. I could not finish the chicken as it was hard and dry. All dishes come with fries (good) and greens (cucumber, tomato, onion rings and salad in mayonnaise) the chicken comes with baked beans in tomato sauce. The music is louder inside a room near the bar but the other room was peaceful and quiet for dinner. Parking should be difficult as it is at a cross junction of 4 busy streets. It is more of a drinking hole with loud music rather for dinner. Not sure I will come back. I was very annoyed with the next table one elderly man puffing away non stop....
Read moreMing Cafe is the place to mingle if you are ever in Miri, Malaysia.
It's actually a combination of a Bistro, Bar, and Restaurant. Each with its own cordoned section. Right in the center of Miri Town.
I personally visit the Bistro part of Ming Cafe. But families can visit their air-conditioned Restaurant which serves various types of cuisine including Local, Oriental, Malay (non-halal), even Western. And the party goers can Club around the bar section, crowded, loud, smoky, if you're into that kind of atmosphere. I personally don't go there because it's not what I like.
They serve a large range of alcohols, wines, and cocktails. And the vibe is cool too, generally loud but still quite chill.
I highly suggest this place for visitors, tourist or expats staying in Miri. It's the closest one can get to a legit bistro in Miri.
