I find it funny that the so-called Japanese food Malaysian-made never, ever taste as good or as fresh, as the Japanese Food in Japan. Sukiya in IOI City Mall looks new and the big HALAL banner at the front of the eatery gives it an advantage for customers here, especially the Malay Muslims. As the place is small, the arrangement of chairs and tables are close together and gives the place a crowded perspective. I was with a friend for lunch and we ordered the Volcano Ramen for me and the Tokyo Ramen for her. I ordered Edamame, too and we had hot Green tea for drinks. There are pickled ginger and mashed green chilli on the side. The volcano Ramen was hot and spicy, as advertised. The chicken, though, was tasteless. The Edamane, was not fresh, given the wrinkled skin, and has slimy feel on the skin. I normally love Edamame and probably is the only thing that I could eat easily, at any Japanese restaurant. I had been to Japan, from Sapporo to Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and to the east Miyajima Island, including Hiroshima. I truly enjoyed the food in Japan as they are fresh, and great to taste. The seafood, plainly grilled are beyond comparison, especially the oysters. I have been to a few Japanese restaurants here, and seriously, is not even close to the Japanese food I tasted in Japan. Read moreOther than the food, the service manner is not very good. Just to let you know, not all customers frequently dine at Sukiya—some are visiting for the first time and may not be familiar with the rules, especially when it comes to being served one by one at a buffet.
It would be helpful if your staff could communicate more politely and guide customers who are unfamiliar with the dining process. Tone down your response when dealing with customers who may not know how things work at your restaurant.
Furthermore, it was only 10:30@11 am—if someone feels moody, they might as well stay home. Initially, I was excited to eat there, but the experience spoiled my mood and excitement to even finish the food.
It may not seem like a big loss if one customer decides not to return, but if you review your Google ratings, you’ll see that many comments also mention issues with the crew’s service. Such feedback can influence potential customers like me.
I have been to other buffet restaurants of different brands, and their staff were always helpful and never judged customers who were unfamiliar with the rules. One staff member’s attitude during my visit significantly impacted my dining experience, even though the food itself was good.
I hope there will be improvement...
Read morebeen there a few times, i think i am quite addicted to this place recently. however, the queue is always long, but still worth it..
a good place for meat lover, specifically plain meat in hot pot with japanese styles of soup. neither marinated meat nor grilled option is here.
the sauce option is good for japanese style. i prefer gomatare with slice garlic and spring onion, follow up by raw egg wash to dip after boiling in hot soup. and that was perfect to me..
they also offer vege with lots of choices. i think this place didn't offer any fried chicken as seoul garden or nugget as pak john steamboat & bbq. if you bring kids below 7 years, food option for them is seems quite unavailable/limited choices. as for dessert, they got ice cream and i really prefer french salt ice cream.
since i came here just for beef in miso, other things don't really mind me. great place for japanese style hot pot lover.. not a good place if you prefer grilled meat. a so-so place to brings kiddo in term of food option. the price also affordable.
overall, always looking forward...
