I had Amagi sashimi plate (RM65) today containing tuna belly which is the most expensive sashimi on the menu, yet the quality of the tuna belly is so bad that has so much tendons in it that is not edible or chewable that I had to spit them out as shown in the pic, let alone the size of the tuna belly sashimi is only half the size of what it’s supposed to be. I showed it to the manager and asked them to wear gloves to try to break the pieces as they are non-breakable. Either the chef didn’t know how to slice tuna belly in a correct way/direction or it’s not even the exact belly part. They asked if they can replace another slices for me, of course I declined because it’s the same tuna in their kitchen and I wouldn’t wanna chew another non-breakable tuna belly(belly or not?).
When paying my bill, I asked how they would charge for that Amagi sashimi plate (they didn’t even bother to tell me beforehand as they prepared to waive my green tea and chawanmushi which is not even a total RM10, let alone not even an apology). On average one slice of tuna belly is RM13 (from their 3-slice tuna belly menu RM38.80), in the end the cashier made adjustment to charge me a M-size Rokko sashimi plate (RM45) instead. So that’s a total of RM20 difference.
No apology from anyone including the manager, yet the cashier gave me a face of “I should be thankful for the adjustment she made which is RM20 less.” It’s like saying it’s my fault of spending my money to eat a bad/fake tuna belly sashimi in their restaurant. By right, I should have gotten RM26 less instead ok.
Sushi Zanmai management, kindly take note of this incident and take necessary improvement. Thanks heaps but no thanks, we will never order your most expensive tuna belly sashimi...
Read moreI've came here multiple times alone or with families, highly recommended place to have your meal here. The staffs are super friendly and efficient and the meals are always on par. Cleanliness and environment are also great. Also one of the few Sushi Zanmai restaurants that uses the sushi conveyor belt again after the pandemic. But the egg was overcooked lmao, it should be a runny onsen egg like shown in the manual but it came fully cooked. And also my curry ramen took quite a long time as one of my family member had already finished their meal when it came.
Overall a very enjoyable experience.
The price is very affordable and worth it in my opinion. One person would averagely cost 20 ringgit with a main dish and sides and a family of five would never go over 150 ringgit with each having a main...
Read moreBig disappointment because of the bad service. My first time been here & the very moment i wanted to step in with my sister the waitress who welcomed us, named Poh Yee had made us feel discriminated (like we don't have money that make us afford to dine there) as she was not sincere in welcoming us & like she wanted to chuck us to the worst seat. I said so because when i requested to sit inside as the restaurant look big she had lied about the restaurant was full. But i insisted my way in & found out like i expected it was almost empty. But because of my sister who was craving for Japanese food, i still sat & hold my disgust with this waitress. About the food, been to many different Japanese restaurants in the city, i don't find anything spectacular or better than any Japanese restaurants in...
