The Travelling Duck in IOI City Mall is a pleasant restaurant with simple decor. As a premium restaurant, it offers a delightful ambiance. We decided to try their duck menu on a weekday evening and were impressed by the speed at which our dishes were served. However, we would have preferred our order to be served by courses instead of all at once.
Their signature London roasted duck was the highlight of the meal. The skin was crispy, and the flesh was tender and juicy. We also ordered fried rice with seafood and kailan with oyster sauce. The fried rice was great, but the kailan was just okay and not worth the price.
We had pu er tea for drinks, and the serving size of food was moderate and could be shared between three people. There was a 10% service charge on the total bill.
Unfortunately, the staff's service skills were lacking, which ruined our dining experience. They did not communicate well, and they did not clear empty plates to make room for diners to continue eating with comfort, even though they passed by our table several times.
The menu pricing was premium, but the quality of food served made it worth it. The only downside was the poor service from waiter to cashier which requires serious improvement. We were charged for their packet tissue without even checking if we used it or not.
Overall, The Travelling Duck is a must-try place for their signature duck menu, despite the need for service...
Read moreThe food at The Traveling Duck is superb, but the service left much to be desired.
Upon seating, the captain immediately recommended the most expensive dish, the signature Irish duck with buns, without explaining the difference from the regular Irish duck. This constant push felt intrusive, as she stood by us, giving no time to privately discuss our choices—seriously frustrating.
When we ordered the regular Irish duck, she dismissively referred to it as "normal duck." We also ordered a single portion of soup to share, to which she pointedly emphasized, "Only one?" This hard sales approach and her attitude were terrible.
I noticed a small family next to us being similarly pressured by the captain about their order size, suggesting that a quarter portion of duck was insufficient.
Lastly, the cashier did not allow us to review the bill, simply swiping our credit card and stating the amount.
While the food is commendable, the management needs to address the service issues with the captain and cashier. Overall, the food is good, but the poor service significantly impacted...
Read moreAt this restaurant, the spotlight shines on Silver farmed ducks from Ireland—a renowned brand revered for its exceptional quality. The ducks, meticulously prepared in various ways, promise a range of textures and flavors that beckon to be explored. The crispy skin crackles under the knife, revealing tender meat, though one can’t help but feel it falls just shy of perfection. A touch more seasoning here, a little more succulence there, and it could truly soar.
Beyond the duck, the menu features a collection of notable Chinese cuisine—dishes that are crafted with a practiced hand but seem to lack that extra spark. Acceptable? Certainly. Memorable? Perhaps not quite. The flavors dance on the palate but never quite crescendo.
Then, of course, there’s the price—a little steep for what’s delivered. One leaves with a satisfied stomach but a lingering thought that, with a few tweaks, the experience could truly match its lofty cost. It’s a place of promise, yet one that leaves you pondering just how much more...
