The quality of sushi is not very good. The sushi rice is often quite dry and brittle. The size of each sushi is on the smaller side. The tamago was quite thin.
The worst part is that the “mentai” sauce on the sushi is always very, very, very thin (see photos below). You can’t taste the mentai at all. At this point I think they better don’t put any mentai lah. Put also no difference.
However, their ala carte food is quite nice. The curry udon tastes very good and is very filling. The udon has good texture. The kimchi ramen (pictured below) is also quite okay. Broth is ok but nothing special. However the fried chicken cutlets that come with the kimchi ramen is pretty good! The chicken is surprisingly juicy and nicely cooked, but the seasoning and breading can improve a bit.
Also, when we came, there was one dirty sauce plate stacked with all the clean plates (pictured). But overall hygiene isn’t bad.
Overall, medium-low price, mediocore sushi, above average hot food. Go try Sushi Mentai and you’ll understand why I don’t like...
Read moreUtterly disappointed with the food portion and quality that has been getting worse year by year. I am a loyal customer to Washoku ever since I started uni back in 2018. Throughout the years, I must be completely honest that the quality overall dropped to an unacceptable level and my family members also felt that. Back in the days, the curry rice I've ordered came with acceptable portion of potatoes, around 7-8 pieces and it kept on decreasing as time goes by. Now, look at the picture yourself. There's only three pieces left ? So does it mean in a few months or years, the plate would just come with completely carrots and diluted curry paste? Do you think it's completely fine to serve your loyal customers with this kind of serving and attitude ? To be honest, I just hope the management would acknowledge poor reviews instead of responding only to good ones, being completely selective about feedbacks. Perhaps this is my first and last review for this restaurant, if no improvements and acknowledgement are made, that means it's time to say goodbye for the 5 years of...
Read moreI’ve been having most of my Japanese meals ever since I started my campus years in Sunway College and Sunway University.
They have very quick and efficient service. The environment overall is pretty quiet and clean, a very nice place to have your meal alone here!
In terms of food, they serve many varieties of Japanese food from sushi, salad, katsu curry rice, assorted flavours of ramen, udon and soba, tempura, bento set, etc. Although in terms of variety, I won’t say they serve with the most variety of Japanese food. I’ve been to Japanese restaurants that sold more varieties than what can be found here. In terms of taste, this place is pretty decent and is as any good as any common budget Japanese restaurant you can find in Sunway or Subang area. In terms of portion, this place offers pretty decent as well in comparison to what I had in Sushi Mentai. Although in my most recent to Washoku, the curry was a little unwarm.
But overall, it’s a pretty decent place to visit. Would definitely...
