Beyond Coffee • Bandar Sunway — Restaurant in Subang Jaya

Honestly, don’t understand the hype here. It is not so bad, neither it was a good experience. If I were to rate it, probably 5/10.

The cafe itself was a cosy aesthetic & comfy. Good ambience, and a best place to sit and hang out, convenient to use laptop.

Ordered the charcoal flavoured cookie cup with latte, matcha latte, cappuccino and hazelnut coffee. The cookie cup, loaded with sweetness as inside of it was fully coated with chocolate, too sweet in fact, the latte in it tasted quite bitter, but when it crumbled tried it with the coffee it was a good combo. Otherwise on it’s own, only the cookie cup was enjoyable, but yes too sweet. Maybe could work on that. The matcha latte was good, like really good. With the balance taste of bitter and sweet, ordered it less sweet.

We ordered the croffle with scrambled egg, croffle with mushroom, sausage and egg. It was such a huge disappointment being a croffle lover. The croffle was too sweet, and super hard. Kinda struggled to cut and eat. It didn’t go well with the savoury taste. Maybe it would have been just fine if at all it was a little soft. Ordered their tiramisu croffle as well, super sweet. The sweetness was too overpowering. And the croffle was hard and crunchy for not sure what reasons. I don’t think that’s how a croffle should be, from my experience eating elsewhere.

Parking is a little difficult during lunch hour. As you know, it’s Sunway.

Overall kinda disappointed, this is just my own opinion though. Based on my taste and likings. Could give it a try to experience the cafe...

Price: 4.5/10 A little on the high side, average around RM20+ for a meal with drinks. The price was revised after the recent renovation, used to get around RM15 per meal. However, i think the coffee are averaged priced (RM8-15 depending on the coffee)

Food: 7.5/10 Food are above average, love their chicken katsu, coffees are pretty good, very aromatic but not too strong, i always order their latte (Not a 'professional' coffee drinker, but its way better than McCafe coffees)

Service: 10/10 Got to rate high on their service, the waiter is very courteous and care about their customer. Albeit it gets a bit slow during the peak hour as the crowd could be pretty big. There was once i accidentally ordered chicken katsu ala-carte not knowing it doesn't include the garlic rice, after the waiter know about my situation, he gave me a bowl of garlic rice F.O.C, that deserve a 10/10 rating here.

Environment: 8/10 The cafe i cozy, plenty of seats, with great vibes music, air-conditioning is on point, not too cold or hot. The only downside is the noise from the crowd during peak hour (majority students from Sun-U i believe), may need to raise your voice if you are talking to someone. Oh yea, forget about finding a parking space here during peak hour, chances are slim, walk here if possible or...

I forgot to leave a review when i came here but here goes. It is the worst experience from the sub-par dessert to the toxic environment.

I ordered a magic matcha cream and while it is not the worst thing I have ever tasted, the presentation is very off. The matcha powder was not mixed well, like milo ais tabur, plus it is looming over the dessert. It should be fully mixed.

Secondly, the worst thing that happened was the toxic drama that happened in this cafe. I overheard an employee getting yelled at by her coworker that made me feel unsafe. It is okay to tegur your fellow colleague but no customer coming in must know what is going on. This is a cafe, not warung tepi jalan. Benda boleh settle kat belakang, why the whole world must know?

Anyway, very unlikely I will come here again, unless my complaints have been addressed thoroughly. My intentions are not ill, I am just hoping you guys would take this criticism with an open heart....
