Kooky Bowl — Restaurant in Subang Jaya

2021 review update, I've been a sunway uni student since 2016 and man, this place is still always and forever my favourite. Quality for the price you pay is soo freaking good.

Their cakes are absolutely top tier out of all the cakes I have tried. For a cafe that isn't just a bakery, their cakes are sooo good. Most cafes/cake places only have 1 or 2 really nice signature cakes but dang, I've tasted at least 8 or 9 diff AB cakes and they are all so so good!! My favourite ones are the tofu cheese & hojicha cake, amongst the other more typical but equally good ones like the oreo mille crepes etc. Coffees, also good!

Onto the food, you can still order the basic pastas that they used to have on the menu, just request it from the waiter. Their bolognese ham pastas are my favourite with the carbonara salmon. Cheese baked black rice is also one of my favourites.

I've graduated and am moving away, but this cafe will be setting a very high standard for any other cafe to live up to it lol. Cafe ambience is nice too of course, great for anyone to come. Dropped by this outlet for coffee and salad.

It’s 70% occupancy when I arrived, managed to sit down at the long table but able to move to another when other customer left.

Fall in love with their espresso ☕️ and upgraded myself an affogato because of it. Plus on top that, saw that they also served salad with sunny side up 🍳 which looks irresistible 🤤

Espresso ☕️ is bold, nutty and earthy - really good blend suites me well.

When pair with vanilla ice cream 🍦 which topped with powdered coffee you know you’re getting one of the best affogato ever 🥰 which currently made a place in my favourite list.

Salad 🥗 looks good, there are two dressings yuzu sesame and also infused acacia honey 🍯 lemon 🍋 - chose the later which is also not bad for my liking.

Salad was also drizzled with herbs crumbs, salt and cheese - best part you can also taste truffles 🥰

Noticed that the salad 🥗 served to me, missing broccoli as claimed in their menu but they’re using few leaves like baby spinach and lettuce 🥬 which is okay but for some reason the lettuce taste more on the bitter side

I am a really big fan of After Black. It is definitely my go-to place for honest and delicious food, as well as coffee. Their staff are highly attentive and so friendly. The place has a nice atmosphere for socializing and working. (Wifi could be better but I think a lot of people were using it.) I have had a pleasant experience every time. Their coffee is lovely and I can be quite fussy when it comes down to that. Unlimited free water is a big plus, they make a conscious effort to reduce their plastic use which we respect so much! Last time I visited I had the mushroom open sandwich and WOW. I really enjoyed this a lot. Gorgeous flavors and the portion size is really acceptable. Their aglio olio is also super yummy. My bf goes for the fish and chips and loves it, although the portion for fries is a little small. You can tell the food is fresh, it comes out hot and has a lot of care put into it.
