The second outlet of this restaurant, located in The Pinnacle Annexe, Sunway was opened in April 1, 2022 – the main branch, located in Kampung Pandan was launched in November 2015. It occupies 2 floors and has lots of seating capacity. The decoration is rather haphazard, not that it matters when it comes to food and drinks. The latter I suspect is the main draw come dinner time. While the menu is extensive (not using the word lightly here!) and mainly promotes Japanese cuisine, there is also a small section catered to Chinese food. What was a surprise was that they have quite a good range of set lunches as well! We order the Teppanyaki Beef set, Teppanyaki chicken set, the Sang Hah Mee and a Lala Noodles Soup. While the lala noodles was just ordinary, both the beef and chicken were pretty good; generous chunks of meat carefully cooked, almost to perfection in teppanyaki sauce. The dipping sauce completely complemented the meat, being slightly tangy and sweet. A more familiar chili paste provided some burn, if required. It also came with a plate of rice, edamame, chawanmushi, tofu and miso soup. The sang hah mee was generous, a large plate of egg noodles drenched with eggy sauce and topped with one very fresh fairly large prawn (into 2 halves). One is also allowed add-ons, a soup, a drink and dessert at give away prices. One normally do not expect the add-ons to taste really good, but the mushroom soup was lovely and the ice-lemon tea refreshingly good too! Although the service is not top notch, who cares when the food, in my opinion is a steal, particularly the sang hah mee. (Footnote: I recently ate at a “famous” old school sang hah mee stall in the centre of KL and had to pay triple the price for a prawn smaller than the one I had at Yamaguchi. Even the serving of noodles was...
Read moreI have tried the golden hairy crab fried rice over the weekend as recently there has been alot of sponsored post for this dish online. But beware, please do not order it! It is a ripped off for rm98++.
Only cheap frozen crab bits are given in the soup. Don't think it's even frozen hairy crab. Correct me if I am wrong.
Soup has very mild roe taste. Close to non existence.
Fried rice is less thn half a bowl. Unlike online reviewers showing full big bowl. No wok hei... Just normal fried rice with scallion and egg whites on top. To charge rm98+ for this dish, the least u can do is give more fried rice la. This is not fine dining u know.
It was advertised that the dish is to be served with shredded ginger /vinegar and ginger tea together but non was given until I asked for vinegar later on. After a while, still no ginger tea was given, I was already feeling quite ripped off and angry, so I did not bother asking for the tea anymore and just wanted to finish eating and get out of the restaurant ASAP.
Also ordered beef tepppanyaki with add on salmon sashimi. Nothing major to complaint about. Sashimi was thick but had a fishy aftertaste like it's not so fresh. Hopefully I don't get food poisoning 🤞
Also, whn my husband and I walked in, Noone served us until we had to ask the waiter if the restaurant is actually open for business as we were the first customers there.
Overall, just not a very pleasant dining experience. Food is mediocre at best and subpar.
Maybe it is better that you order the fresh hairy crabs than the noodles / rice dish? But after the above experience, I did not bother trying anything else...
Read moreI came to this restaurant with a fair bit of curiosity after hearing about their signature 蟹膏面, hoping for a rich, indulgent bowl that would justify the premium price tag. Unfortunately, what arrived at my table was far from the culinary treat I anticipated. The broth, which should have been luxuriously brimming with crab umami, felt oddly flat and one-dimensional, lacking both depth and aroma. The noodles themselves were uninspiring — slightly overcooked, with none of the springy texture that gives a dish life. Even the much-touted crab roe topping, the supposed star of the show, was timid in flavour and quantity, more decorative than functional.
Beyond the dish, the overall dining experience did little to salvage the afternoon. Service was polite but slow, with dishes taking longer than expected despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. The ambience, while passable, lacked warmth or character, making the entire meal feel transactional rather than memorable.
Sadly, this is one place I won’t be in a...
