A magical cupcake experience by Mettelina’s Cupcake Café!

When we started planning our wedding in Malta, we knew right away that we didn’t want a traditional (and overpriced) wedding cake. We wanted something personal, something that would truly represent us. That’s when we reached out to Mette from Mettelina’s Cupcake Café - a friend of our family and an absolute genius when it comes to cupcakes.

From our very first conversation, Mette was incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely invested in our vision. Over the months leading up to the big day, she guided us through everything - from the number of cupcakes we’d need to the design and flavours. Together, we designed the look and taste, inspired by traditional Danish flavours. When it came time for the tasting, Mette had prepared several options for us, and we ended up choosing four flavours that felt both nostalgic and elegant: Brownie, Drømmekage (Danish coconut cake), Salted Caramel, and Citronmåne (Lemon Cake).

On the wedding day, Mette arrived early to set everything up. She displayed the cupcakes beautifully on a tiered stand we had ordered through her - and as our guests watched, she created this stunning centrepiece that immediately caught everyone’s attention. Before we began, Mette gave a short, heartfelt speech (at our request), sharing how we knew each other and telling a little story about the inspiration behind the flavours. It was such a special touch - personal, warm, and unforgettable.

As for the cupcakes themselves… let’s just say our guests did not hold back! Everyone loved them - people were smiling, taking photos, and (quite literally) swooping in like seagulls to get their favourites. The feedback was unanimous: “These are the best cupcakes we’ve ever had!”. Even days later, the leftover cupcakes were still soft, spongy, and full of flavour - just as perfect as on the day.

The most wonderful café I have ever been to in all of Europe. I don’t usually write reviews, but the experience was so amazing I felt compelled to.

This is honestly the finest coffee shop in Malta. This adorable tiny café encompasses the best of two worlds, the Scandinavian and the Maltese. It is exquisite, with attention to every single detail! The interior is heavenly cozy, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

This is such a cute and charming little place, with the most delicious coffee and cupcakes. On top of that, they also offer a wide variety of chocolate covered liquorice, which are just heavenly! Even if you don’t like liquorice, chances are you’ll like these! (I recommend the sour strawberry flavour ;) )

I can’t wait to come again! The owner makes you feel most welcome. Even the other customers there are sweet. Speaks volume of the type of clientele this place attracts!

All in all, it’s neat, cozy, charming and delicious! Visiting it is a must...
