Porticello Restaurant — Restaurant in Valletta

We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time. Which we made online and was confirmed. Around 21.30 the hostess approached us to ask if we had a reservation and under what name. She said she would check, which resulted in her leaving us waiting for about 20 minutes before letting us know that there was going to be a delay. My boyfriend then asked if we could get a drink in the mean time. She suggested the house cocktail to which my boyfriend asked if it would be on the house, for the wait. Her facial reaction showed that this was definitely not her intent. But we agreed on a glas of Prosecco. Finally a table was free, but to our surprise it was given to another couple that arrived after us. After 20 more minutes and still no free tables they decided to take some extra tables and place them in the walk path of the servers. We specifically booked our table for the outside area as it has a pretty view over the water. And you guessed it, the extra tables that they were placing did hardly have any view.

After seating my boyfriend and I said we were not going to let this ruin our night. The first course came pretty quick but after that it all went down hill again. We had to ask to be served a drink, empty glasses were left on the table, there was only a menu for wine and when we asked about other drinks being served the waiter did not know what was on the menu. Also our main course took forever. After about 40 minutes the waiter came to tell us that our main courses would be there in less than 5 minutes. Which ended up being around 20.

The food was alright, the location is pretty but we felt completely ignored by the staff. From arriving to leaving we were there for 3 hours and it left us with a bill of almost 90€ and being very very unsatisfied with...

Went down at lunchtime to book a table for the evening, got told we could only sit inside which we said OK. Went back in the evening and got seated outside which first of all we thought great. What a mistake that was. The waitress was a whole different level of rudeness, ordered pre drinks G & T and a pink gin and lemonade....to be told very rudely I could only have pink gin with bitter lemon, which I declined. We said we didn't need a starter much to the annoyance of the waitress. I ordered the tuna and was asked how I wanted it cooked so I asked how is best ? Which the waitress replied 'it's fish... you decide'. My partner ordered seabass to then have the waitress tell him that's also fish....We asked three times for the wine menu which never materialised. Within no more than 10 minutes into our meal we were being rushed to finish. We called for the manager and my partner explained to her how we felt we were being rushed and we weren't having a great experience here....to which the rude waitress stomped over and tried to ridicule my partner into not being able to read a menu and that he was stupid. That was us done with this restaurant...we asked for the bill which was also incorrect. The waitress then tried to shake his hand to say no hard feelings....to which he replied 'you only shake hands when a good transaction has been carried out and that definitely hasn't happened tonight'. The only good thing about the meal was the small amount of food that we managed to eat. Very disappointed especially as we had researched about good seafood restaurants in Valetta, also found it very strange that they would only accept cash...
